Default Looking for High Power 808nm Cross or Line Lens

Anyone know where I can find a line or cross lens capable of 25 watts at 808nm or how to make one from a normal lens?

For what are you going to use it?

I can't say what it is going to be used for, not exactly, but only in a lab. So far I have not been able to find a high power laser line generator prism for IR anywhere.

Default Re: Looking for High Power 808nm Cross or Line Lens

A cylindrical rod lens is all that is needed, the power level is a bit high for the small cylinder rod lenses used in most laser pointers but large rectangular (or square, even round) somewhat flattened PCX/Plano-Convex cylinder lenses which have a cylinder section on one side, flat on the other, can be found on ebay regularly although most of these types don't produce a long line but rather modify the output of a laser to either shorten, or lengthen the width of the beam, depending upon which way the glass is oriented but they can take hundreds of watts, the larger ones can but they aren't huge either, a 1 inch square or rectangular PCX cylinder lens can take a lot of power, much more than 25 watts.

For a pure line lens I prefer a simple round rod cylinder lens, meaning, like a small section of a tube, they are great for making just lines and aren't used like the PCX round on one side and flat on the other cylinder lenses used with bar diodes which are generally shaped to just modify the light beam into a more square or rounded beam instead of turning it into just a thin line. I have some half-sections of a round cylinder (PCX-half rod lenses) which can produce a nice line, just not very long or as thin as a rod type of cylinder lens.

This web page shows the somewhat "flattened" square or rectangular cylinder lens which are used to modify the shape of a rectangular beam of light from a laser bar array diode into something a bit more rounded or closer to a square but in my opinion poor at doing so, it will take more than just one of these lenses to shape the output from a wide bar laser diode into something used to make a fairly rounded spot but if you want to make the rectangular shaped output of one of these bar diodes into a longer line, just turn them 90 degrees from what is used to square a beam up from one of them and it will make it into an even longer line, just not a nice thin line:

This page shows the type of cylinder lens/rod lens I recommend for a small thin long line, note the extremely small size of most of these and the high price. You can find a 5 mm X 12 mm rod line lens on ebay for 5 to 10% of this price from some sellers:

Here is the best laser line lens (for my uses) but they can get very expensive for high power:

Right angle prisms can also be used to make laser lines:

Where did I find all of this info? From this one web page at Edmund Optics: http://www.edmundoptics.com/search/i...r+lens&x=0&y=0

Edit: Please don't get on me for responding to an old post, the purpose is for others who are looking for the same answer, I came to this thread due to forum searches myself. It wasn't long ago I was searching for this same info myself. One disclaimer, I am a relative newbie to all of this compared to others here who stay silent, unless of course you say something wrong, then you get some noise and info in a heart beat!
