Ok... I'll send all three AixiZ lenses.

They should fit the Sure module. The only thing is that the Sure module's threads don't go all the way down on the inside like the AixiZ module. But with these three AixiZ lenses, it should be fine...

On the two I'm looking at now, one goes all the way down, the other leave 2mm. Just fyi.

Thanks for this Jay!

You're obligated to measure those beam diameters now Fire. The information would be useful and extend thanks for Jayrobs generosity.

Why yes, you can expect a massive flood of pictures...

Awesome. I'm about to buy a lens from jayrob as soon as I can for my 8x bluray build. I was thinking about Larry's lenses but jayrob uses metal to hold it in rather than glue and that to me is better.

Actually, I must confess that I got the three AixiZ lenses free from Greg, so it is his generosity, and I'm just passing them on, to get more comparisons done! :)

Thanks jayrob,
This is all good to know. Both jayrob and larry's lenses are sweet.

However with with 405nm 8x, 12x and higher coming in the near future.
Were going to have to say good buy to the acrylic.
If your a building a laser for a friend or just to sell. Your going to want to get the cheapest glass lens that still performs good, ''Best Bang For The Buck'' Letting the new owner decide if he wants to upgrade to a jayrob or larry lens.

So I got the lenses today (thanks ) and did some tests. I compared a total of seven different lenses on two lasers: dx old style dilda, and home-made phr pocket pal.

The lenses (in following order):

Aixiz acrylic
Aixiz 405 glass
Aixiz glass:
Dilda stock lens
Sure acrylic
PHR-reading lens
LPC-reading lens

Pictures.
The first picture from each lens-test is the dot on a flat-black surface, 7.5 meters away from the laser aperture. With flash.

The second picture is the same dot on the same surface at the same distance, but with a laser blocking filter in front of the camera. No flash.

The third picture is the dot's size at aperture. The violet laser pictures are taken with goggles in front of the camera, the red taken with the laser running at a lower current.

The last picture is the beam focused to infinity at aperture.

The set-up:

I used my super cool DDL laser test driver as an external powersupply for the dilda, the battery's runtime is pretty poor.

My next post will contain basic divergence tests and beam size at aperture for each of the seven lenses, but now I think I need a break.

Thanks Jay and Greg!

Looking good...

All pictures are with the same focus?

P.S. Do you use the last three lenses for anything?

Yes, all set to infinity in all of the pictures. I used two of the lenses in my rgv labby when the diodes was working, not so much now.

Ok cool...

Not to 'nit pick', but could you define 'infinity'? Do you mean the best visual dot at a certain distance? Because the beam will continue to diverge.

Not trying to be a pain, just trying to get an idea of the exact focus for your testing...

I'm not sure how to explain it, but the dot is set too minimal divergence. It is neither focused to a focal point nor spread out to a cone of light.
