i have a set of the cashio projector optics with the dichro's. are any of the included lenses useful in trying to tame this beam? i've played around some but there are lots of combinations. still trying to absorb optics along with power supplies, gas lasers and all the disciplines with this hobby

For the optics you got from surplus shed - the 12.5mm and 17mm focal length lenses. The difference in focal lengths isn't high enough to provide much magnification.

No, they're not cylindrical lenses, and most aren't even coated for red. You might be better off spending $40 or so for a set of Mi-Laser optics especially since they come with some very nice mounts.

i just bought a set of the mi optics hoping it contains the same pieces. i have a good start on a beam table and hope to replicate BB's work and get a decent beam out of my 635 flashlite.

Hi all.

Someday I was curoius about the 635 nM wavelenght.

And I bought this module : 635nm Orange/Red 160mw Laser/Lazer Dot Diode Module LD with TTL Stage Lighting | eBay

The beam parameters were really weak, one of laserfreak.net members told me "650-G2 lens and do it like they done it" And I did it. But after that change, beam have a square shape - 17 x 9 mm but with the long reflex'es at the ends.

Does this correction circiut will improve beam parameters of my module ?

Hi all.

Can anyone comment on the reflective efficiency of the thicker mirrors supplied with the optics set with 635nm at 45deg (as one would see in a knife-edge setup). When I turn it toward that direction it seems to reflect more yellow/green than red.

Would I be better to go with the fs mirrors harvested from ka$io projectors than the thick ones supplied with the MI optics set?

Wish I had an LPM

Thanks

I just ran a test with the dielectric mirrors (the yellow ones) with a 638nm laser and they're very good. I was getting about 401mW/403mW (99.5%) reflectance. I also tried out that little wedge mirror that comes in that set and it's not as good (330mW/403mW ~81.8%), but it might be chips/scratches or other defects. I'd stick with the dielectric mirrors if you can.

A benefit of those thicker mirrors over the thinner ones is that they are much flatter. A problem with them is that in a knife-edge you may not have an exact "knife edge" because of rounding at the edges and the thickness of the the mirror (i.e. the other beam might intersect the side of your mirrors. You'll have to position them carefully.

I recently bought a Mitsubishi 300mw 638nm diode and the divergence was allot worse than I thought it would be. The dot after the corrections, although square, is perfectly sized! Awesome job. Any way to purchase these lenses individually? Like without the whole kit?

The kits are cheaper than individual lenses, and you get a lot more than just lenses. I originally bought the kit for the mounts, not the lenses. They just happened to come with the lenses so I tried them out.

You can buy some individual cylindrical lenses at Surplus Shed though. They've got shorter focal lengths too, so you don't have to use so much area to perform the correction. I've been able to use some to get decent correction in under a few inches. The only problem is that many of the lenses are uncoated, whereas the MI laser kit has coated lenses so you don't lose so much power. Note that you'll probably want to use the diode without an Aixiz lens if you're doing correction with really short focal length lenses.

I need mounts so why not but I have a mits300 and 2x m500's that I can play arround with I have a SM110 too.. but I have a couple crystals on the way for a 532 and need mounts.. I have absolultely nothing for a bench system all my stuff is for handhelds.. What is the 1Axis though? I have seen 3Axis but not these cant you adust the lens or mirror?

A single axis lens means it is a cylindrical lens, i.e. the lens only affects the beam in one direction. Those mounts in the MI kit are considered single axis because only the vertical angle is controlled by a screw for "precision" adjustment.

OK so it can move up and down and the horisontal has to be by mounting the mount.

3 axis mounts are for fine tuneing?

Default Re: Inexpensive, decent correction for 300mW Mitsubishi 635nm laser @ 94% transmissio

You can usually get away with just two adjustable axises and ball pivot. It just takes a little more adjustment to get right. Even those basic knife-edge mounts can work, but they're sometimes a pain to work with because they just don't bend far enough (or in my case the cheap-ass screws end up stripping).
