Can anyone point me to a good web site with basic hobby laser information for both laser diodes as well as optics?

Thanks

^^^ I agree... but___________

For the most basic-and I mean before solid state- spend a year or so reading Sam's Laser FAQ- he is our guru and more know his name than the inventors of the laser.

there are tuts at YouTube by rog88- spyropyro and others. Dont rely too much on KipKay but he has gotten better lately- there is a box above labled 'search'

99% of all questions are answered there- if you dont find what you need its beacuse you need to change your search terms- also see any of Jerry's posts in the welcome section (laserbee) and hit those links he has for all to use.

read all the stickies, check out the tutorial section and try to make some friends here-- making a thread about a question already answered may not get the help you were hoping for.

I found Sam's FAQ and I understand why you suggest reading it for a year, so full of information I need to research a bit to understand what he is saying. Was hoping for some basic info with illustrations somewhere, I will keep googling, google is your friend :) as well as your help here, thanks!

um..... your on the best place to learn and discuss lasers on the internet and rather than use it, you use it to find other places to learn about lasers. THE BEST PLACE IS RIGHT UNDER YOUR NOSE! :scowl:
