OK so I'm still pretty new around here and just built my first laser. I've been doing alot of reading and as of recently I've seen alot of talk about these external lens springs. I've got a AixiZ glass lens on my build now and like most of you it has Teflon tape holding it tight. but of course that didn't last very long. so i wanted to try one of these out but didn't want to spend the $5-6 plus shipping to try it out so i make one my self. so i went to my local harbor Freight tools and pick up these (200 Piece Assorted Spring Set) $6.99 and of course used my 20% off coupon. in the kit it comes with 12- 3/8" X 3/4" spings as well as a bunch of other spings. so what i did was take those springs out and i clipped it down a bit and used a smaller marker of my kids to expand it to fit over the lens a bit better. then i took the dremel to it to smooth the top and bottom especially where i cut it. and last added a little petroleum oil on it to make it move a little easier. and i was quite impressed with the results over the Teflon tape. it hold the position alot better, and doesn't move unless you want it to. so that ends up making 12 springs for 6.99 which ends up being like .58 cents a peice.
