What's your budget? Are you intending to use it for the same application.

Also - they are using a modified laserscope (Going off of the video), a medical laser. It's not something you mess around with if you've never used lasers. Output power on those is up to 50W of 532nm, Q-switched. VERY dangerous for eyes (And skin, anything that can burn...), I'm not even sure their use of it is a good idea from a safety perspective. That said - they could be running CW at a lower power - still, low power on a scope is still several watts. Not to mention the high-voltage, water cooling and weight concerns that come along with a scope.

This is a 6-figure investment. Can you afford that? You might bring that down to low 5-figures or high 4-figures if you buy used and have enough experience to get it running and develop the optical system. The power cord alone is going to be $200. This is not even a project for most of the experienced laser users, let alone someone new to the field.

Here's the manufacturer: first down laser

To build something like that is definitely beyond the abilities of most on here, myself included.

Do you have any experience with lasers at all?

Where are you located?

What is the purpose? How will it be used?

If you want a laser just to draw straight lines on a field, and can do it at night, that really doesn't take much. It would be easier to buy rather than build.

As a test you can buy a cheap $15 green laserpointer off of ebay, and just lay on the field at night.

A lab laser and a beam expander would probably do what you're looking for.

You probably don't need anywhere near that much power, and would also need to to make a custom beam expander, but it's doable.

Personally I would take the easy/cheap way out, use two lasers instead of one, and simply attach them together, correcting to make sure the two beams themselves are parallel. Handheld if they only need to be on for a short time, labbies if they need to be on for a while.

50 laser pointers won't be enough. A single 1.5W laser is also not nearly enough. A stadium it lit very, very well. Standard line lenses do not work because of the angle you will project them.

I'm taking a wild guess, that the goal is to simply to produce an even line to lay down another mark following it. If that's the case, stadium/field lights could be turned down for the duration.

@bartek345 - What are you trying to do? To do with this laser device?
