Cheating at laser tag?

This brings back soo many memories....

Before I got into lasers I used to go out and buy one of those cheapo $1 <1mW red lasers and bring them to laser tag places an try to use them. I always wondered why they didn't work... However, there was this one place that I was able to use a red laser at, it was kinda wierd because they used barcode scanners as a gun!?!? Looked wierd when the result sheets came back with scores on them and there was a blank space where the name of the person and gun number where gone but there was a huge ammount of points that the operator couldn't explain

I'm not for sure on the IR wavelength on one of the DX greenies but because most of them dont have IR filters maybe they would work. Come to think of it that might be pretty cool, everyone is using dim red lasers when all of the sudden everyone sees a blinding green dot hit someone with the beam leading right to you (Expecially if there is fog) ;D. Lots of questions will be asked.

the hard part is that the ir is modulated, it accually sends a code, just like your tv remote, so when the pack does its upload, the computer can see how many scoring shots went to who.
