Not sure why I dont find this listed anywhere... but if you need a super cheap beam splitter, do the following..

1) Go to goodwil or salvation army.
2) Buy a $1.00 plate glass picture frame
3) Buy a glass cutter at home depot (around $8.00)
4) Make as many beam splitters as you need.

Not sure what the exact transmitted v.s. reflected percentages are, but I made a simple interferometer last night with this beamsplitter and it works perfectly.

While your at the thrift store - buy a plate glass mirror for another dollar... then use some stripper on the grey backing and you can make as many FS mirrors as you want!

I have had paint stripper on the back of a mirror for 3 days and NONE of the backing has come off. These cheap mirrors from the craft store are tuff s.o.b.'s. Next I'll try mirrors from department store I suppose

Buy environmentally unfriendly paint stripper and it will come off in minutes not days! I recommend circa 1850 heavy body paint and varish remover. Available at your local home hardware and home hardware building centers , with expert advice! LOL That's our motto! I work there and sell it!

Has anyone measured the loss using a normal but modified mirror? Thanks for the warning, I wouldn't want to get hit in the eye by an arrant laser beam, could be worse than a Red Rider BB gun if one of those new high powered ones.
