Very interesting video.
That's Impossible (PBS show) touched on the subject of mobile lasers, but this vid. showed more. Thanks for sharing. Good job!

I've seen this before, but I thought it was called MTHEL (MobileTacticalHighEnergyLaser), guess not anymore? Also, with the level of precision achieveable in a laser weapon... Why isn't this being used against enemies? It's like a rifle that won't miss...

Use of photonic weapons, against people, is banned under the Geneva Convention.

I believe the THEL is being used on ships.

Because you can still target materials with one.
Incidentally quite a wide number of american military enlisted and officers are under the impression that .50 cal BMG sniper rifles like the Barrets and such being "anti-material" can't be used to target human personnel. However, they tell enlisted instead to aim at the gear the person is wearing, saying it's legal to shoot the buttons on their shirt, the webbing holding their gear to their torso, etc...... Incidentally the official JAG stance is it's legal to use them as anti-personel, so it's just a lot of misconceptions. However even if it wasn't, our troops are still told to do so, and to simply claim "anti-material" use of the weapon instead. Moral of the story: Military personnel will use any weapon at their disposal to accomplish the task of the enemy dieing, and themselves not. Treaties notwithstanding.
BTW I didn't think the geneva protocol prohibited laser weapons, and that wikipedia link said nothing on it. Isn't it a different treaty that does?

I think many are using the new 416 Barret instead of the 50 BMG. It's faster and really hard on "soft" targets !

and yea he's right the Wiki page on the Geneva Convention mentioned nothing (that I could find) regarding restrictions on usage of photonic weapons, and in fact didn't seem to mention photonic weapons at all.
However the Zeus is truly a technological marvel and is just plain really-f*ing-cool. Good choice of naming, too (Zeus is a Greek God, father of Hercules, that shot lightning bolts down from the heavens... the mythological explanation for lightning).
