hmm nobody voted for #24 ... I think it would have looked really great if the photo was taken at a little higher angle, eliminating the cars!

It sure looks cool as if those beams are fireworks headed to the sky to blow up! :D but the cars really ruin it :(

Thanks guys! I guess the beam shot I thought was totally sick is not very popular though...

The main difference from one shot to the other out over the pool, was the time and therefore the background light. I found w/ a bit of fog, about first light, the sky & especially the yard were nicely lit & w/ a good beam brightness in comparison... -GH

but in the end the winners will be chosen by judges, not votes. So even if they cheat their pictures are not going to win....

I'm childish, so i had to vote for the guy who puts all the lasers on his butt.

Voted. I fail to see how #21 has so many votes though =\

Its quite neat collection, and hard to choose from since there are different styles as well.
I love the artistic quality of a picture like #2, but i'm not sure its really a beamshot. I have similar doubts about pictures like 1, 14 and 29 which display nice laser show (fan) effects, but i wouldn't call "beamshots" per se.

No matter how this competition plays out, i think the next one should have some more clear rules as to what exactly is a beamshot (for example, in air, no scanners/gratings or something like that).

I think the idea was to have seperate categories for comps in the future. One for scan-shots, one for rainbows, etc etc.

Voted again

Yeah this one was an open comp basically if the beam of the laser was involved and a focal point of the picture I said it was okay. Any form. What may be a "beamshot" to some may not be a beamshot to others. I've got plenty of ideas ;) don't worry!
