All of my pics were always taken where I work. Since we lost power for 6 days during Storm Sandy, Me and the Mrs decided we will be buying a generator to avoid the BS of not have power during the next big storm. Hence the garage was cleaned up in a major way to make room, but it also up in my garage, and used some other objects to incorporate into shooing lasers into. Thanks to Daneflex for the idea to shoot into liquid! I shined my lasers into a bottle of olive oil, and into a glass of water, and some where I suspended a small crystal into the glass for some really nice refraction effects. I think I took about 150 shots. The first and seventh pics were taken with my iphone and the quailty is not as good. Here are some of my favorite pics from this phot shoot. Enjoy

Wow, looking really cool. Shooting lasers into liquid is nice :D

Is the difference between shooting laser into water versus shooting them into olive oil great? I can see the olive oil completely illuminate while the water just kind of 'bends" the beam.

Hi Coby, Olive oil also can bend the beams upward, unless the glass had something to do with it. Depending on where I located the beams, the effects changed. Here is one where the beams defract upward. I will be shooting and experimenting again this weekend

Hi Brucemir, I tried it with a bottle of olive oil at home and sadly it didn't work. So I think the shape of the bottle is very important, in your pictures I see your bottle is kind of the 'standard" format round while the one I have at home is more square-ish. I did notice though that 405nm looks white when shone through olive oil :D

When I aim my lasers at my bottle you can see the beam bend a tiny little bit and then continue straight forward.

Hi Coby,
Did you photograph when you were experimenting. If you did, can you post them? I think this weekend I am going to pour the olive oil into a glass (the same one I used in this batch of photos for consistency) and see what happens. I think I will also try to suspend my crystal in the oil and see what happens. I may also try glycerine too.
Thanks

Nah I didn't take any pictures :\ If you want I can 'recreate' the experiment when I'm at home and take some quick pictures so you can see what's going on exactly.

Question: On some of those pics I can see uranium marbles fluoresce. When you submerge one in a glass of water and shine your 405 through the water, does the marble fluoresce or only when directly hit?

Edit: Oh, right. It's a crystal. Nevermind then :D

Hi Coby, you got it!. When I directly hit the marbles they are to bright to photograph. So by hitting the crystal the right way (luck), they are lit dimmly and when taking a time exposure the lighting is uniform with all of the other colors.
