Hey guys..

Since i never ever posted a new topic, now its the time..

Just wanted to share some pics of "the D3 box"

I made this box for fun because i had a cool heatsink left.. so i decided to drill a hole and press fit everything.
Its getting quite cold, even the outside of the box is really cold so thats a good thing.

Made 2 seperate inputs, 12volts for 2 fans, running @ 14.1volts
And 12 volts for the laser with a ddl driver.

Both transformers are 12v 1000mA.

Here are some shots with a Red one installed.. i think it was running @ 190mW+ because its already dead LOL (forgot to check the mA) funfactor goes first.

From left to right :
100mW Green, Red one, and a 30mW green on the right

A bluray running at 60mA + .. yea killed hehe but great fun for a few minutes. (notice i added some smoke)

That things has a certain coolfactor to it.. big metal case with the fan makes it look like a very powerful device - something you'd expect to burn through the wall

haha nice pics indeed - although somehow i don't think you need that fan running at 14v to cool that little laser diode, 5v would work fine and be a lot quieter

Yea lol, its making a lot of noise, but its ok

Would love to put a 300mW+ diode in there

If you could get enough power to it, why not put more than one module in there?? It looks like it has enough room and cooling for a bit more...

Just take the plate off, i´m using the aixiz lens to focus in the heatsink.

so does that mean its possible to connect a AC/DC power supply straight to the ddl driver circuit?
i have a 9v and a 12v AC/DC supply, would they work?

Yea its plain 14volts that run through the ddl driver, i have connected a heatsink on top of the LM317 just in case.

Most of the 12v power supply.. will be like 14/16volts output.. i just tried it!

Hoo-ee!

That is some fine machining on that heatsink... With that much dissipation you should be able to run a few watts!

Well i have to see the temperature on the heatsink first, ill keep this updated

I also have space to drill a hole and be able to run water through it

EDIT: gonna replace my server hardware, pics will be offline sometimes
