some new pics

The basic set up for these pics was to use 8 round mirrors in a semi circle pattern, two sets of 445, 520, 589, and 650 (the second red is actually a 635) which were bounced into another set of two long rectangular mirrors. I eventually removed the two rectangular mirrors and aimed all eight round mirrors at a glass "apple" and got a few nice shots of that. I think the pics without the glass apple are much better. And at the end I added a 532 with a diffraction gratings. There I used a 473 in some of the shots. Enjoy.

Bowtieguy - On some of the shots I am using a 8mm fisheye lens which does "bend" the beams. By changing the angle of the camera/lens toward the beams, you can control the amount of bending of straight lines, which I have gotten better at. I have some shots of lasers (and other things) where there is too much distortion and the photos are not appealing. Another nice thing about that lens is I can set up the camera 6" away from the subject and get everything in the picture in focus. Many of my shots of the glass sphere posts were taken this way

Edit: the slight fish eye lens completes a few shots for sure!! Great job!!

Bruce - I wished your images had exif data in them. What length of exposure is typical for you? Do you shoot in the dark? Do you just use a normal smoke machine with normal fluid or do you have something fancy like a haze machine? Do you have to wait until the smoke is at the right level (not too much or too little) to get such great shots?

Been looking through your photobucket account - you've got so many excellent shots. Funny enough the shots I've been most interested in are those showing parts of your garage and props! BTW does your smoke machine glow green? (I'm assuming that's what I saw on your shelves).

Hey Clansley, just a little bit of fog is all I use from a 40 dollar Chauvelt fog machine I have had for 3 years. I may use a quart of fog juice a year , and that would be around 50 photo sessions. mostly I shoot in the dark, but I will always take some shots with the lights on or use a flashlight
