These are just a few pics i took this morning when i got off of work at 6 A.M

some have long exposure, you can tell. And for some reason i cannot take a steady outside nightshot for the life of me. And the last one Is a solder connection I made with 2 wires. I've never soldered a diode to a wire before and I wanted practice before I tried and killed stuff. If anybody has critiques on it please tell me. I put a lot of solder on there and hit it two or 3 times each on both wires just to practice. I tried to keep each connection under 2 or 3 seconds tops.

Here are a couple of my favorite long exposure shots.

i need a darn tripod for my camera, AND my huge laser haha. Because i can't hold either still and I would set them down on the table on the deck but it has snow on it :(
DTR any critiques on my soldering job of the two wires? I'm buying a survival laser host assembly, and on Friday am gonna order a diode from you to BUILD MY FIRST LASER, so i would love the input!

I will have to check your pictures when I get home. Whichever site you are using to host them is being blocked here at work.

and do you have any "known" freak diodes... like ones u told me for higher powered builds, would pay more for it, cause i got my survival laser kit on the way and like i said, friday, will be ordering a diode from you!

jakeGT You need to practice soldering a bit more. You have too much solder at the connection, and You did not get good solder flow. Are You using Flux? Tin the wires prior to making the connection and try again. The connections you made will work, but if you use that much solder on the diode pins you'll bridge them.

yeah i guess i didn't state it clearly enough what i wanted to say earlier in the post, i hit each connection 2 or 3 times just to practice hitting it with solder quickly. but still i do need practice, less solder than that on a real diode-pin connection. I have flux but did not use any and i dont know why haha. but your saying definitely use less solder, and i definitely don't want to bridge the pin connections i realize this, so I will try again with soldering the two wires together really close together use a little flux, and make the connections with less solder!

Bridging the Diode pins is a real bitch to clean up without overheating the diode. Yes if you use a little flux and hold the iron to the wires while adding the solder you should get good flow. To do the diode you want to apply flux to the pins and tin your wires, and with a small blob on the iron tip. while holding the wire to the pin apply that small blob to the joint, and it will make a good connection with minimal heating of the diode.
