Shinning lasers over 2 million people at copacabana beach, Rio de Janeiro Brazil

Hi everyone.

This is me shinning a blue (2W 445nm) a red (680mW 635nm) and a green (850mW 532nm) laser over 2 million people at copacabana beach in Rio de Janeiro on 2010 New Year's Eve.

I was at a party at copacabana beach and brought the lasers with me. Just you to know copacabana beach has over 2.5 miles (4km) in extension

I pointed the lasers to the sea of course but you can see that sometimes someone from the crowd pointed a green laser to me.

LOL, at first i didn't realise you were like 30 stories above the ground, it looked like you were standing 5 feet from the waters edge on the beach

I wonder how powerful the other guy's lasers were... ?

I think it was neat to see your 850mW greenie appeared a little brighter and crisper than your 2W blue.

What are the chances that someone else from Brazil posts a video of your lasers from the beach down below? Maybe the other greenie guy had a video camera too :thinking:

Nice i wanted to be there. I also attracted alot of attention with my 1.4w 445nm and 200mw 532nm

And give me the song name, and maby more songs suggestions, i love film-trailer music.

Awesoe video. Cool to see the flashes from the cameras as well.

i love how everyone looked at me instead of their 200 dollar + fireworks

do you think it was the same guy? I thought the 2nd beam looked slightly more powerful.
The second laser was like a km away from the first laser.

hmm just watched it again, they do seem the same power to me. need to know what kind of time it was from the 1st green to the second.. reginak?

That's a pretty awesome vid.. quite a crowd! I'd rather have been there than here in the cold midwestern US.

It must have been quite visible to the crowd down there... and i love that some of them decided to 'return fire'

Given the distance its probably harmless fun, but it could be a good idea to wear some eye protection when showing off lasers to big crowds that shoot back once in a while
