At first I'd like to thank FireMyLaser who helped me alot making first 2 mirrored spiro and then with 3 mirrors.

Lasers:
DX30mW x2
IgorT's Blu-ray
DX200mW

I wasn't able to take very good pictures of the spirograph because of my crappy camera I'm using right now.

Anyways here they are. The skull is some old thing I found that's probably painted with GITD paint, cool though.

Sorry, I forgot to upload it.

I used 3 1kohm potentiometers, 1 reverse switch, 1 usual on/off switch, 3 motors, mirrors from moms makeup thingy(hope she doesn't notice it's gone ;D) and alot of lego pieces.

Sorry for bad picture

:D

If the patterns are hard to control: turn down the pot to the point when the motor stop spinning and measure the resistance (power off fist) between the two used pins on the pot. If you measure it to be for example 92 ohm, then get a 100 ohm pot.

And it takes some time to figure out how to operate it with three mirrors, there are so many possible patterns.

Why not legos? ;D

I have to buy a multimeter ;)

It wasn't very easy at first to know how everything should be connected but FireMyLaser helped me through everything and now I know alot more ;) Thank you!

Thanks for all the nice posts

get some front surface (first mirrors) mirrors and it will clean up any of the spatter caused by rear surface mirrors

I ask this on every spirograph thread and i will ask it again...
did you tilt your mirrors slightly?
keep your mirrors centered and strait?
or keep your mirrors off center but strait?

Nice build Iandme, good photo's as well ;)

If the mirrors are not tilted you would just get a dot as an output, no matter how you change speeds or directions.....They need to be centred, in balance, so that they don't shake the motors and mounts to bits......

If you are mounting mirrors on the end of a motor shaft you try to get it straight....that will give enough of an angle for it to work.....Too much of an angle and the beam misses the second mirror for most of the way round...

awesome, I'm actually gonna work on my spirograph some more in a few minutes, so I will try different combinations of angles. :)

trust us just try and make it as flat as possible. you want very little tilt. and i can bet no one on this forum could get a perfectly straight mirror with out some very expensive tools

well, do keep in mind I am using PC fans, it was pretty easy to lay it flat on, especially when I'm using double sided tape.
