Very nice. I can see where you took your time to set this up and probably took several photos to get it just right. I noticed the use of diffraction gratings in some of your newer art work. I guess like everything else, art is a progressing talent.

Thanks, Paul.
Yes, that is the true. I can see how I improve and learn. The lasers have really awesome properties. Not easy to work with (compared to flashlights in light painting), but the more you know them, the more possibilities you open yourself. It is awesome journey of disvovery to learn laser art.

Now I spend much more time experimenting and finding solution how to do in reality what's in my head - I wish to do more quality stuff, not quantity. In adition I educate myself and think about the meanings for my art. It's a form of communication for me... A lot of ideas and thoughts about the surral world to be said...

I used to do the same thing with my music. A huge piece of me died when I was left with a barely functional left hand when a surgeon placed a metal plate in my broken wrist that moved and cut most of the flexor tendons. His attempt to rectify the problem left me unable to play at all.

Sorry to hear that, Paul. I'm always worried when I realize something like this might happend to me, how I'll handle it... Luckily, there are nice examples (not only) in history of people, who managed to find their way even they were in such a situation. Like Stephen Hawking - body almost completely not working, but awesome brain giving some of the most contributions in science. Or this guy - he had become completely deaf, but composed some of the world's most famous classic music: Bedřich Smetana. These people would keep me inspiring to find my way (and possibly to continue somehow) in case I'm affected by something like this.

Oh, thanks a lot, 3DLaSeRBuiLDeR. I consider my artwork of your choice as sold now.

But seriously, price of art is sometimes crazy as hell, but it is not the material, what makes art, its the idea, thought and soul put in it.

I would like to have an exhibiton one day showing it to wider audience. However I do not make illusions about selling my artwork for some astronomical amounts, since I'm unknown artist and more like self-learning student than doing perfect work, although I managed to make The Portal exactly as it was in my head, what I'm proud of as I improved to this level.

Also there is a "small" problem with printing it, if I do it I need to find the printing solution with the wider possible colorspace. CMYK is completely not sufficient if you consider the colors:

(Source: Wiki - linked under click on the image.)

Check the wavelengths on the border of chromacity diagram (the colored part representing set of colors possible to create from mixing the wavelengths on borders), this represent all colors human eye might see. My artworks are in sRGB (the subset of it containing not nearly all the colors), RAW files of my recent artworks are in AdobeRGB (a bit wider colorspace), and CMYK is some really small subset not nearly representing what you can see on screen (using RGB - additive color mixing). As a consequence the colors are not as nice as I wished them (some conversion is needed to fit smaller CMYK).

If I'm able to find some solution how to print them for a reasonable cost in some "near RGB", I would be very happy. Still I did not find any local service providing such a printing to try some small prints as test. I used classic photo printing service, but it makes me very disappointed with colors. Lasers are too specific to be captured, too precise light sources. You might not notice it on normal photo under normal light, but in these artworks (where lasers are used) it is significant loss of overall impact.

But I take it as a challenge and even if I do not manage to find a solution to represent it accurately in print, I might add digital copy to it for full enjoynment of wider RGB colorspace in highest resolution with all the details like dust on sensor, noise and everything - I leave it there intentionally as a part, trace and evidence of real photo - true capturing of reality I created.

Anyway, if I'm allowed to dream about highest prices, I would definitely save some buck to get 50 W 589 nm laser guide star system one day - that would be the most awesome laser in my collection, even it is not nearly portable.

Portable and 50W 589 LGS should not be in the same sentence.
I too would obviously love to own my own sodium LGS. What a beauty.

Where are you from exactly ?
I'll pass you to this website , https://www.troteclaser.com/en/ watch it thoroughly and see if they are also colored engravings ! usually the fiber laser or lasers from 100W up they are also able to colour in ! or you can contact them by phone and ask ! maybe you can go in person or send them to your projects in Adobe format and them you print them in color ! "does not harm to try," says the said !

Thanks for link. However I did not found what I'm looking for. Did I miss some technology? They seem to be focussed on engraving and cutting. The problem is I need to print in the widest possible color space. This can be done by more ink cartridges than three (resp. four - one is for black - for practical reasons) in CMYK. With more cartridges it might be possible to cover bigger part of the diagram I posted above.

BTW I'm from Czech republic, not that far from Italy. Still our family story says we have Italian roots. Not sure it is true, but it says our ancestor came to the country during Napoleon's war and as he was injured here he stayed with some local girl and settled here. The fact is my surname is also name of one old Italian city, so he might just took it as was usual in those times. Nice story, but who knows how it was in deed...

I too would obviously love to own my own sodium LGS. What a beauty.

Yep, Oliver. Still this would be something awesome and with consideration of older dye yellow the size of this DPSS is somehow smaller and therefore more "portable", what I've read. BTW great emoticon with the yelloow beam.

More 'portable'. This sounds good. As portable as my Argon?
Ha, thanks Radim. I made that specifically for the guide star!
We need more colours for that emoticon. I need to make one just for the NUBM44.

I think it is comparable:
"The laser head and power supply enclosures can be separated by up to 30 m or more, or can be stacked together to form a complete system 600 900 1200 mm in height."

Awesome, Oliver! I noticed also your rep icon. What about writing Coldshadow to add them to the smilies selection with some BB tag?
