I've finally managed to disassemble my PGL III-A. I didn't find any info on how to do it on the web, and CNI wouldn't tell me how to get it open, so here we go:

The button got stuck some time back, and when I tried to push it in by force, the switch on the driver broke partly off, and the button and driver got pushed inwards. I thought the whole barrel was threaded, but that was not the case. I twisted the heatsink with a plier, and it came out, slowly. After some turns, it came to a stop. I then used a flat plier with some tape on it to protect from scratches, and pulled it further, all the way out. The heatsink is probably glued to the host at a small point on the bottom of it, and therefore a lot of force was needed to get the heatsink moving in the first place. I had to sharpen the plier to get enough grip on the heatsink.

Here are some pictures. Click 'em for larger size. I think this is for the specially interested, so I don't now how much explenation is needed:

What part of the driver is damaged? From the pictures it looks like just the switch is broken. I would replace it with a click on/off switch instead of using that momentary one.
Just an idea...

Another component is also broken. I don't really know what it is. Probably a capacitator or a resistor. You can see it on the left side just above the damaged switch. That is probably my fault. I tried to move the button around with a screw driver after I pushed it inwards. Very stupid idea. :undecided:

I've thought about an on/off switch myself. :)

Does this picture show the housing/heatsink of the laser diode and the crystal set/holder separated? Or what is that cylinder with the blue reflection in the middle?

Thinking of purchasing a busted one to retrofit with.

The component marked 681 ? ..... if yes, it's a 680 ohm resistor.

No offense HIMNL9, but if he has not figured it out in one and half YEARS, he never will.

BSha[...]14rulz, how about checking dates next time when you post on a thread? I'd appreciate it! :)
