I just finished a new 1 watt laser, I built with a diode from snoctony on ebay, this diode is a to-5 in a meredith module. It is powered by a ddl circuit using an lm317 and about 1.25 ohms of resistance. The current into the diode is about 980ma's, and it is outputting 1139mw's! I was hopeing for a better beam profile with the meredith module, but my other 2w home built laser is actually better, it has a tighter beam at distance, wich is kinda supprising to me. :D

videos are in quicktime format, that just happens to be what the camera makes.

Nice!

Think you should clear your table before you do that again though mate... I hate to think what would happen if that battery rolled in the path of it.

I say! Impressive!
What kind of driver and battery did you use. I built a 500mW IR laser with a diode from Snoctony...

He's using a lm317 driver, and I'm guessing external power? :-/ Anyway, good job on the build, please do post pics of it.I always like to see photos of the unit itself :D Btw, does your camera happen to be a panasonic?

Re: new 1 watt laser built, showing 1,139mw's, and

yes, im using an lm317 driver, the power source is a 7.2v nicad rc car battery. :) it is rated at something like 2.8ah... also, I put a panel meter in the back so I can see what my diode current is. the decimal point is off by one digit because I used a .1 ohm resistor instead of one ohm so the battery would last a little longer.
