I'm not sure how long since I've needed AAAA batteries for anything but I just did a Google search for "AAAA battery" and some of the results included stores such as Staples, Radio Shack, Ace Hardware, Best Buy, not sure if their local stores in your area have them, but you can call them and perhaps find a nearby source for them.

All of them are close enough to me. I may have to give them a try again. I know the last time I needed them, I had to have Radio Shack special order them. I'm going to bet most of the other places are the same way, but it still might be worth checking them out. Of course I've had this thing like 10 years, and I think I've changed the batteries three times.

My $12 amazon 532nm 2xAAA pen "5mw"
and sparkfun $14 532nm module "5mw".

I removed the diode from the sparkfun driver and slapped it into my new laser the "Hotlights blue inferno" no idea how much it puts out but it uses a LPC-815 running around 300ma which is the max the driver can output so I figure the output is around 210-225mw just a guess.

My laser collection

SANY1270.jpg

Ok, from top to bottom on the first pic...

~20mW green mounted to Smith and Wesson M&P 15 (AR-15)
~5mW red mounted to PF-9 (9mm) - Crimson Trace
~1.3W 445nm - Survival Laser
~100mW waterproof green from recent group buy
~80mW green from eBay
~100mW green from DinoDirect (very close in brightness to waterproof one)
*The 3 greens listed above can burn plastic and light matches
~40mW green, came with diffraction lenses for patterns
~50mW 405nm, can heat things up but no burning (diameter of beam spot too large)

I neglected to include a few red pens (I have about 5 cheapies)

Most of these are new... I just started collecting somewhat seriously last month, after finding this site :) So besides the gun sights and a green, these are a recent allocation of my funds

Survival laser and 100mW green in light rain (makes up for poor visibility pics). Both are pointing to trees about ~60-80meters away.

Unfocused SL on closer tree (100 feet or so):

my laser collection (and btw my first post :D):

from left to right

- 405nm 10mW from o-like
- 532nm 100mW from rayfoss (or dealextreme, can't remember)
- 650nm 250mW from o-like
- 780nm 120mW from o-like
- 532nm 30mW from some shady shop on Mallorca :)

also got a tripod, some kaleidoscope/laser star diffraction gratings (o-like) and glow-in-the-dark paint (for some fun with the 405nm:beer:)
(btw these were the facts on the nm and mW form the websites, don't have the ability to measure the stength myself, but hoping to do that some day)

Well I figured I might as well show what I've accomplished this past month. Started out getting Moh's JAD kit set at 1.3A. Went with DTR for the M140 diode. Everything turned out good, didnt fry my diode:D. After that I ordered a host and all the parts to build my 445nm from Survival Laseres. I couldnt help myself, had to find another host to build another laser. Too much fun. So I found a nice host on cajunlasers. This would be my first try at starting with a working flashlight, and turning it into a laser. After de-soldering the CREE light the leads coming from the driver were way too short. I didnt want to have to get back into the laser to add or change diodes and work with short wires. So I went ahead and soldered longer leads to give me some play with the diode later. I was able to use the existing driver. It was set exactly to what I wanted, 500mA. I wanted a pointer that wasnt too strong, so this driver is still safe for me to use. In the future for stronger builds ill just have to de-solder the pill and attach a new driver. Soldered on a M140 diode i received from DTR and closed that bad boy up. Turned it on and it worked. I was happy , not satisfied though. MUST MAKE MORE :) Here are some pics. I felt kinda bad taking the TrustFire T801 apart, it worked pretty good., the other 2 are C6. Im sure yall knew that though.
