Mixed feelings. Out of the box it mode hopped. I pot-modded it down and it only held TEM00 at the very bottom range. It was too dim to run the scanner. So I thought ***k it and turned it all the way up. If you note the picture of the guts, the mount is a 1/2" shaft collar with set screw. As soon as the dorcy was screwed in tight, the laser started running in TEM00!. It seems that the heatsinking needs to be even across the module. (Simply put, I shouldn't have used the Dorcy, the heatsink needs to be longer. I've got a MXDL jayrob heatsink on the way that'll likely work better. The weird thiing is the module likes to run hot. It still starts in TEM01 and doesn't go to TEM00 until it's warm. But then it can run for 30 min. straight before it starts to lose brightness! So it's a good module for a scanner.thesk8nmidget said:nice work! and a few questions! how do you like the sandstone module?
Yes but as I said above, the heatsink needs to come farther toward the end of the module to keep the beam in TEM00 so I won't use the Dorcy again for one of these modules... But I will probably buy more of them.and to wire it up in the dorcy did you just make the dorcy a case possitive flashlight? and put the battery in backwards?
