Hi all, i think this is my 5th diode, and i have one sitting up here just incase this one decides to go, its running at 200ma @ 2.74V, burns like crazy, and can cut electrical tape from like 2 meters! These pics were taken with NO FOG whatsoever, hasn't been edited apart from shrinking, and are really crap quality! :D anyways once i get a better camera, i will get some better beamshots. I don't have in munted in a box or anything yet, although i will get to that very soon, since it was shorting that killed my last diode.

EDIT:changed ma/voltage

the beam isn't as thick as it looks, that is just some slight camera shake ;)

well it doesn't burn it very well, although it makes a little bit of smoke, and a little black burn mark. I have it in a box now(WAY to big for the laser itself, but they didn't have one exactly the right size) but it still works, and i even out a little battery holder in there to make it portable, and it charges the batteries when i run it off a mains adapter. The batts i have in t ATM are crap, and last for about 3 seconds on their own, but i think i will get some better ones tommorow. The output power seems t have dropped slightly, but that would just be the batteries charging. :)

:-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ well, i have to say something, I just re measured the current from this diode, and it is drawing exactly 200ma, at 2.74V. Sorry for the mix up, where the hell did 120ma come from??

Well at least you have a working diode again... ;D It should burn pretty good running with 200ma's.

well i couldn't stand starin at a diode not in use, so i put it in a little box with some batteries, ressitor cap etc, and i get 200ma out of that one to! Its ALOT smaller than the bigger one i made. I will get some pics of em soon

ok well here si some pics of the DIY red's i made. This photo is of both of them. The grey one was the one i made first, and the black one i made today. Sorry for the large size, i have no way of shrinking them ATM, on a diff computer :) The big hle in the top is where the key switch is going to go.

The grey one has a internal battery pack, and can be run from an adaptor, and the adaptor charges the batteries too. The black one is just powered from 2AA's.

the internals. The grey one is a drier from a spyro, thus the motos and eerthing else, and the black is just a resistor and cap. They both, amazingly enough, are drawng 200ma.
