My 3W 445nm beam shots

My first attempt at imaging the beam from the 3W 445nm I received a few days ago:









It was dark, however my motion sensor halogen security light kept coming on, which explains the funky background. Plus it is overcast at the moment. One of these nights I will get to a truly dark place and see how it goes.

Oh, and next time I will put the goggles over the camera lens so you can see the perfect little rectangle when the laser is focused.

Yeah, it's not the usual inky blackness with a bold blue beam creasing across the frame, but I think the mixed lighting gives a surreal look. Thanks for the compliments.

Haha yeah I've had my own bonding time with ricks work. Very nice lasers. Driven hard though, so just be aware of that. I think I mentioned it before to you....I think lol.
I just let go of one of his 3.4w c8 . It treated me very well. What batteries are you running in it. The 26650 are a much better weight and allow for a way longer run time. Personally I love the feel of a heavy laser.

Whoa...very interesting pics. That super weird/psychedelic background with the crazy intense blue beam cutting through it....super cool! Especially with the trees looking all funky like that...seems like the album cover art for some crazy metal band or something hahaha! If you could recreate those conditions, it would be cool to see more shots. +1

I'm using the two 18650 that Rick included. A battery upgrade is on my "to get" list, but I need to get a few pairs of goggles first. I gotta let the family enjoy the power too.

I didn't plan the shots. I just put the camera on a tripod and set everything up on the retaining wall for my driveway. Prop the laser up, turn it on and trip the shutter. These are about a two to three second exposure each. The halogen security light was lighting up the area and it is very overcast. Plus it's Fall and the trees are starting to change color. Of course the pine trees are going to be green but I think the combination of halogen light, gray overcast skies and blue from the laser presented an interesting combination of light for the camera.

I think a cool effect is that in the last pic you can see the shadow of the trees, caused by the laser, on the fence.

And yes, I've received advice about the cycle time. I am paying very close attention to it.
