Howdy LPF'rs!

I am working on a new upcoming series of Magic Stick Hosts called "MS-E" The Most Efficient and The Most Perfect Host design I have made till date!

MS - Envy - 26650/18650 Prototyping Thread!

- It has no joint except for the unscrewable tailcap.
- Double Sided Pill, (Pressfit) Dual Driver Support
- 5" long heatsink , 5.8" Host Length
- 5.25mm Thick walls heatsink extended till tailcap with battery and pill insert from the back..
- 37mm Host Diameter (26650) / 30mm Host Diameter (18650)
- Module aligner in pressfit cavity
- Super Thick and Solid construction
- Interchangeable GITD Tailcaps/Solid Aluminium Switch (optional)
- Tripod Mountable & Tail Standable
- Very solid SS Spring Contact for Excellent Current Flow

Moreover, This is the first prototype, I will be testing this host in comparison to a $100 MS-SSW Host, My IR Thermometer and LPM Datalogging setups are almost on the way  , This genuinely is a very solid contender in the Custom Hosts world!

While I am expecting such great results from this host , I thought about documenting the whole process and sharing it to you guys while I am making it to the final processes!

UPDATE: 07/11/2013

The weeks work resulted in some awesome upgrades to the MS-Envy and now it's finalized!

Lastly, I would like to add that this version may undergo several aesthetic changes while keeping it's conceptual functionality.
As always suggestions and comments are always welcome!

:thanks: for looking!

Re: MS Envy - New Generation of Magic Stick Hosts - Pressfit ^ Jointless Host Concept

ooooh aaaaaah

Re: MS Envy - New Generation of Magic Stick Hosts - Pressfit ^ Jointless Host Concept

Well done again, sir! You know where to put me in the line...

I noticed you've gotten a little tired of polishing when it comes to polishing facets in a big way!

I'll be watching the prototyping on this one!

Re: MS Envy - New Generation of Magic Stick Hosts - Pressfit ^ Jointless Host Concept

Polishing is a PITA, Takes too much of my time, while i am expecting to put the host on a lathe several more times, so i prefer not to ruin it and have to do it once again!
If this design concept did perform better, It can yeild derivatives for all sizes of Li-Ion batteries and still beat a much fatter host any day!

:thanks: for the kind words as always! I'll keep on updating the thread when polished and finalized the host..

So when do I send you money? Ahaha

Have an estimated of $60-$65 when they go on presale next month :D

But this particular host is

Simple, elegant, sleek, etc good job

I'd be better of sending you like 500$ and have you send me all new stuff you design automatically. Makes it easier for both of us :p

Seriously stop taking our money :na:

Get in line, offroad!

You Secret Weapon build thread was invaluable to me, and I kept a tab open with it as I went through my build...Which I am about make the final edit for the build/review thread, as we speak.

I look forward to seeing what we all do in the future with Sinner's progressively build hosts.

Great idea for a host sinner. I'm really waiting for the results of your tests with it

Also just got the MSV4 ... Very compact , nice looking host. I really need to start and build these ( MSSSW and MSV4 ) ... :)

I'll be working on it, I have some spare time next week so I'll be going to work on it..

The only problem i am facing so far is to maintaining the concept/design as it is in the pictures but:

- The build is very difficult without specialized press tools.
- Chances of error at press-fit due to tolerances in manual machines.
- More work required at the customer's end, as well as higher skill-set and as said specialized tools.

What i can do it , is loosen up the pressfits and use set-screws. I'll have to use 2 one for each diode and the driver pill respectively!

Thanks for your offer Offroad :takeit:

YES YES YES

Nice and plain as I like it!

Just an optional cool looking (GITD?) grip area would be an useful extra for some people as this host do like to roll from the desk / table a lot :D

GITD is epic, That's a great idea actually, Thanks PHi..

Haven't started working on the outers of the host, When I am finished with the working design the outward can be milled to put in some GITD epicness..

Im also planning to install a Tripod mounting hole in the host !! :eg:

For what it's worth, Sinner, I don't mind a set screw if that's what you need for the build. Yours and the Krytons are the only direct press hosts I have, so I'm already used to set screws.

The only thing i am concerned about is that, Once you build into it and press-fit the diode, and driver/pill from either sides, It would be impossible to take it apart because its all press-fitted from either sides and i shit you not pressfitting is a pita as is, let alone pulling it out..
This could only be possible by using setscrews which i dont want to use because its a one time thing to tighten your module, but it will be still there and a bit of over-exposure if someone sells a build in it.

Sinner, how about something like a small hole-cover..like the flat little buttons they use to hide holes drilled in furniture, etc. I don't know about in your region, but I imagine something like that could be found. Just a thought.

The idea of an entirely press-fit host kind of scares me. It's scary enough extracting diodes as it is. I might be ok at it, but I don't like to make it a habit.
