LPM Of DTR 445nm In Mohgasm C6 At 1.62A With G2 Lens

Below is an LPM of a DTR 445nm diode in a Mohgasm C6 host driven at 1.62A with a G2 lens on fully loaded AW ICR 123 750mAh batteries. The LPM was a LaserBee USB 2.5W.

The little spike down on the right was when I accidentally moved the laser.

Looking good ! On a good day it will hit the 2Watt but that day is not now :D

Was the output around 1.7W with the 3 element lens?

I thought you'd said it was on your other thread, but checking again it wasn't you that said it :D

Strangely enough, I have not LPM'd it with the 3 element lens yet. Maybe later today. I've got some other stuff to get to right now.

I am told it will be in the range of 1.7W with the regular lens.

Edited to add:

Mine only gets up to about 1.5W with the standard 3 element lens, which oddly enough makes the G2 lens add about 30% to the power as 1.5 x 1.3 = 1.95W, which is in line with earlier reports of increased efficiency and match my results exactly.

The next thing to try is chilling your diode. I just put mine in a ziplock and put it in the freezer until it reaches about 48F. It is important to do this in a low humidity area and to use the bag to keep moisture and condensation out.

Condensation happens when a cold object (48F Laser) hits warm
moist air (normal room temp/humidity)...;)

Yes. DTRs diodes are epic. Mine reaches 1450mW with a 3 element lens at 1500mA. Guess I need a G2 lens too :)

@Sigurthr What do you exactly mean with chilling your diode? Will that improve anything afterwards under normal temperature conditions, or will you just get a slightly higher output when cooled down?

Two main reasons you'll see the decline shown in Glenn's first graph is battery sag and thermal loss of efficiency of the diode. In other words the battery's voltage drops due to the high current drain or the diode gets hot and loses efficiency (draws more current for the same output and when current is fixed the output drops). Most semiconductors have efficiencies inversely related to temperature. So, cooling the diode will overall improve efficiency. Sometimes you won't see any higher ouput, but you'll get a more stable output instead.
