That looks like a bad-ass machine from a sf movie.

Sir, the aliens have landed !
Activate the machine, shoot them back where they came from !!

at first ther was an adj pot for testing purposes, yes, but i ended up shorting it because it was crappy and all i want is to have maximum output power after all :)

Wow! You get a 10 out of 10 for creativity and style!

Those are some beautiful beam shots too.

Stellar shot, and a much stellar looking build.

30 second exposure time into a cathedral? Didn't you get any knocks at your door or something? :angel:

That's the best looking beam I've ever seen from an LPC-8XX... You sure you're not just yanking my chain? Maybe the 30 sec exposure has something to do with it. I love the color it produces (the diode) but it has never been too visible to me. Maybe because I never take it outside at night.... :beer:

At first I thinking photo shop til I saw the star trails. Yep it looks like 20-30 sec. exposure. Very nice build. But are you using a driver for the diode?

Great beamshots.. +1 !!
I wonder how the efficiency would be if you switch to an all copper sink?

Nothing in your pictures is photoshopped. Just long exposure.

The shutter was open for a period of time. That's a star, it has moved a bit during the photo shoot. Or a satalite maybe.

If you were pointit's west, it's the planet Venus, it's the brightest celestial inject in our sky excluding the sun and moon.

thanks everyone!
the beam was visible to the naked eye but it wasn't that bright, of course the 30 sec exposure helps :)

@LuxorLasers747: 420mA indeed. LM317 driven...
@Seoul_lasers: i dont know if another sink would change anything, it doesn't even get a little warm. i think it's just a little oversized :)
@ped, TacoHerder & Eamon O Regan: it's just a lens flare! because of the bright spotlight that is shining diametrically opposite on the picture...
