Lighting a Cigarette

We know this is an old idea but we really couldn't find any videos out there showing lasers can really light cigarettes. So we decided to give this idea a try using our 200mW green portable laser. First, we focused the laser using the twistable aperture cap, we twisted the cap until the laser was just a small dot around 25 cm away. We turned the laser on and the rest is history:

If you have any video ideas, email us! We have lots of lasers to experiment with.

I could post a link to a thread in the ancient Lasercommunity.com from 2 and a half years ago of me and 3 other users posting vids of this same thing however I think the point has been made.

Well it's pretty cool that you have a highpowered focusable greenie. What power is the laser in the vid?

The laser used here was a 200mW green portable laser.

Wow, I see you offer the 400mW version. That's the only focusable greenie of such power I saw available. :D I've been looking over your product and I have a few questions:
It says that you can keep it on continuously. Is that heatsink enough for the huge diode, probably 2.5-3W? :-/
And what about beam diameter and divergence,it says "adjustable" but how low can they be adjusted?
And operating current is stated to be <400mA.Surely it draws something between 2000-3000mA , right? :-/

I love how all their lasers are super duper high efficiency. 1,8V, <400mA 1800mW YAY!! energy for everyone! ;D ;)
Besides, I like how many lasers they offer. If I win the lottery, I will certainly get the highest one of every color ;D
200mW 635!!

I think the current was just copy-pasted into each table without being properly edited. :-/

That was a modded laserscope.

Hi Switch, the 400mW uses a 2.5W diode and yes, the heat sink is enough to keep the laser from over heating. The reason we write that the beam diameter and divergence is adjustable is because all our portable laser units are equipped with a focus adjustable aperture. I believe other retailers have add-on lenses that can accomplish the same thing. To make it convenient for our customers, we made the aperture twistable so you can make the end spot bigger or smaller depending on how you adjust/twist the front lens. If you have any questions, feel free to email us at support@skylasers.net.

Thank you for pointing out the operating current error. This was something that was copy and pasted by our webmaster (which do not know much about lasers) and I have instructed him to take down this attribute until I give him the corrected numbers to place online. Sorry for the confusion!
