I've controlled mine thru my iPod touch via VNC. Not the best, but it works :)

I'm also working on a laser turret control interface in VB at the moment, I'll post it here when/if it's done :)

It works apart from the "turret control" section + I need to add a few more buttons. May take a while though, I don't know much VB and it turns out it's rather complicated to live control the RCX.

This program will work with the RCX 2.0's only, for now.

Things : I really like the second turret with the red lasers. It looks almost like a real one. I can't turn my laser on with legos unfortunately...

Video of my turret in action, popping balloons.

Ive bought from them before, easy to work with and the stuff was in great shape, if you need anything :)

I'm considering buying a few more cables and making some sensors/attachments, and also a remote so I can control the turret from up to 7m away :D

Cool! It's amazing how much easier it is to do this with the NXT, and it'd also be more accurate since the motors are pretty much servo's.
yes, but the vertical movement is too fast, so it's not so accurate. I must slow it down... somehow  ...

Nice site. I'm thinking of getting the remote control and modify it with extremely powerful LEDs in order to have a longer range command... Also I was thinking of putting the mini motor to focus adjust the laser

And yeah you should use worm gears, although I used normal demultiplying gears, it is a lot more accurate. But worm gears are harder to use on legos, so it's your choice

The site I linked above sells like 5 worm gears for like $5 or so. Nice turret tho.

I have been thinking about converting the IR link to RF using some of those 433mhz transmitting modules. The carrier freq is 76Khz though, so I would have to strip it down.

Very nice turrets out of the legos I must say I love the idea. I had been thinking about doing something similar but using the USB missile launchers sold on think geek. They even have one now thats laser guided. I was thinking about changing out the laser, or messing with it somehow. Heres the link to the one I seen.

Obviously you made yours out of legos lol, much more creative then my idea of buying this. I would have never thought to use legos.. I was thinkin about popping balloons and lighting matches at the control of my laptop lol.
