Ok so we were bored. Laserchat gets slow sometimes. There is a webcam on campus where I live that can see my house. So, we fired up a few lasers and shined them at the webcam.... Here's the results.

What mW green did you use? In the last picture there seems to be a purple-ish white spot on your house, is that damage from that direct shot perhaps?

O, the green is a 400mw titan. (Hercules maybe) I wasn't concerned with hurting the camera with it as the divergence on it is so bad that at 100' the spot is almost 1' wide. Now multiply that by the distance from my house and the webcam and there's no actual threat to the camera itself.

I also did shine my Kryton Prototype (300mw) at it as you can see and Scopeguy's Sonar (200mw bluray) (thats the purple blob.)

roughly half a mile away. 2100 ft, or 700 meters.

That's cool lol, it's weird that you can see your own laser so far away. Wish I had a camera I could see near my house.

Cheers for the share :)

This was great fun to watch live!
I love how you can control the camera to a huge extent in all directions, and zoom in and out a lot too. I watched some guy walk his dog. :p

Lasering the web and security cams observing us all should be the 2010 trend :)

The true challenge would be to draw 'stop watching me!' in dead pixels on any one of them ;)

^lol. It is fun to watch and control different cameras. I used to do it with Firefox but now I just have an app for that.
