***Correction*** I am not sure about the 445nm diode. I could be the 12x 405nm diode from BDR-S06J sled.

I took some 1:1 macro shots of various diodes. They are from my Canon 7D with 100mm macro lens.

Here is a SOC from a 20x DVD-burner.

Cool pictures!

Though just for the sanity of members with small monitors or slow internet, might be better to make the images a bit smaller, and embed links in them to the fullsize versions :)
 
Yes you can send your pic's to ImageShack or tiny pic and re-size them to better fit here ;)

I love close up's of diodes, I wish my camera could pick them up like that.
Do you have any C-mount diodes to photograph? They are fun to look at up close as well, especially if it has a FAC, amazing to see really just how small everything is that produces lasing!

I don't have a C-mount diode. Maybe someone will sent me a non-function one so that I can take a picture of it.

You might actually have a 405nm diode..

IIRC, the 445s have 4 wires going from each pin to the diode which are usually clearly visible.

If one pair of wire are all you see, it should more likely be a 405nm diode.
 
I t always amazes me how small/intricate these diodes are that produce F-loads of light!
