Yeah I'm really not sure what mine would look like. I've tried looking through the fan before, and I thought I could see a little bit of a glow but it could have been my eyes playing tricks with me since it was in a dark room. Only one way to find out, I'm just scared of overheating the thing. Anyone know if it's ok to run the tube for maybe 5 seconds with no fan? Just long enough to snap a picture.

My guess is it would be fine for maybe 20 seconds at the most, just not at full power, maybe 6A ?

The power consumption for gas lasers is crazy, for argons they use lots of current and not so much voltage, but then you plug in a HeNe and your using 10KV at 25mA  :p  ahhh how much i'd love a gas laser.

Anyway, gooey as was mentioned above, take some pictures of the laser running so we can see the tube , that would be awesome

CO2 lasers are up to 20% efficient. That's more than even a green DPSS
