I'm killing mosquitos in my room so I don't get bites again. It still feels satisfying when I slap them with my shoe against the wall ::)

My view is, if you are gonna kill an animal, dont put through pain, either kill it quickly, or without any pain.

Yes but would you actively search out mosquitoes and kill them just for fun? No, you are killing them because they are attacking you, which I think is perfectly fine.

have you guys ever tried using a handheld electric mosquito zapper? you know the tennis racquet style ones? they are awesome! at my dads restuarant we get lots of mosquitos coming out of the toilets for some reason and i just keep zapping the mosquitos for fun with the zapping racquet that my brother somehow got past through customs... (they're illegal in australia) my brother zaps flies with them but they only get KO'd and not killed so he justpicks the flies up and drops them on the racquet over and over and all this smoke comes from the fly! its just too fun!

If flies get KO'd from that , then maybe I don't have to freeze them to glue them as engines on my fly powered, highly flamable, MTHEL target matchstick plane. :D YAY :D

I used to take a magnifying glass and burn ants when I was a child. It was fun. Then I grew up and realized that it was sadistic to enjoy the suffering of another animal for my pleasure alone.
This type of behavior is to be expected from the emotionally immature.
If you should find this comment offensive then you assuredly recognize yourself.

Does anyone know if flies die when they are frozen?

Your right... Its sadistic to burn ants with a magnifying glass... BUT NOT WITH A LASER!!!!!!!!!! HAHAHHAHAH!!! I used to kill flies in my room (flying around and bugging me) by lasering them with my DIY red from a couple feet away. Hella fun

No they don't they just get KO'd.They can withstand extended periods of inactivity during cold. For example they drop unconcious, sleep through the winter and wake up when it heats up.So trapping them in a jar or bag and sticking it in the freezer is perfect for anesthetizing them.I don't know how can you kill them from a few feet away with a laser. They just fly right away when I try. :-/

Anyway, I agree that it's kinda messed up to take pleasure in killing or torturing something, but you can still take satisfaction in getting rid of vermin ::) And in the case of the fly powered plane, well, I'm not taking pleasure in the death of the flies themselves.I just wanna see the thing get up in the air and see if I can ignite it with a laser(which would kill all of them pretty much instantly). It's a better death than say, being naturally killed by a spider ::)

If they come in my house, they're dead. Next time I see a cockroach, that thing is roasted. I wish I knew how many milliwatts that laser was. If you lived in Texas, you'd realize how big these things are, usually 2+ inches long, and the flying ones are the worst  But now all those suckers will BURN!

Try focusing it to the focal point and waiting till they land...
Does the fly-powered plane work? I focus it and it burns right through the wing nerves.
