Hey everyone,

So if yall are like me you probably love looking at beam pics. So since I figured out how to work my new camera I decided the best thing to take pics of were naturally my lasers! (duh!).

So here are some beam pics. I was going to take some of my 50mW Rayfoss greenie but I only have one CR123A and it was so so so out of juice  ....also why have 50mW when you could have 261mw? Srsly.

FIRST! No playing with Lasers without the safety equipment...I like my eyes, and so does my Girlfriend :yh:

Now what I am currently letting them live in. It is a Cash Box made by Vaultz. It has a Combination lock so my siblings and or dumba$$ intruders can't snag them or do stupid things with them. The Box(hint:the code is 532):

And the cash part I use for accessories such as my diffraction grating, batteries, extra glasses, prisms, etc.

And that lifts up, and underneath I keep the lasers :D

NOW FOR THE BEAMSHOTS! :eg:

And a couple with Diffraction Gratings:

Anyway, hope y'all enjoyed them, and I'm going to start messing around with exposure times once this battery gets charged up fully :undecided:

Cheers

EDIT: JUST today built a 660nm laser running at roughly 200mA, I can see the beam in the dark fairly easily. So I figured I'll just add pics to this thread instead of starting another.

So here goes it:

AND some pics of my Rayfoss and my Homemade lasing together:

AND finally a shot of my Rayfoss 50mW alone:

Anyway, hope yall enjoy the extra pics. I'll try to find some new settings for pictures of my lasers, and it should be better when fall is good and here finally, but for now I'm gonna avoid the heat haha.

Cheers,
Isaac

What camera? Sweet beams. Never seen such nice diffraction star beams either. Did you make smoke or fog?

Yes, it was midday, so I used my fog machine to put a bit of visualizer in the air...in the third beam pic you can actually see a puff of smoke that had just left the fog machine. And I love my diffraction grating haha, and taking pics with them is always fun!

Thanks for taking a look :)

Either my camera is super shitty (damn, I paid $200 for it) or you pumped your fog machine for a while.

It's difficult to take good beam shots. I either get a complete wash of light from illuminated spots or weak spotty beams. To get a nice lightsaber-esque beam you pretty much have to pump fog into a small room. The key I think is to get a thick full fog rather than a few swirls.

My room is a small room. I would say I pumped a medium amount of fog in...I could see quite clearly(aka it didn't look like I was trying to hot box my room haha), but there was enough fog to give me the solid beams that I love taking pictures of. Btw my camera isn't anything too crazy. It is a Canon Powershot SX130 IS. I think when I got it originally(this past Christmas), it was 199. They have since released a newer version though, and this one has gone done to 149 at most retail stores(I work at Office Depot).

Yeah, this is a Jetlasers Diffraction Grating that Gray sent out with the lasers in the GB I got this laser from. It is a glass one and I love it....so much fun to use :D

Very cool pictures, love the diffraction grating!

Me want  Can I order those from jetlasers or were they only for that certain GB?

I cannot find them on their website. Your best bet is to shoot Jetlasers/Gray a PM or email them directly. Never hurts to ask.

O-like have these matrix diffraction gratings. They are glass, but small at 5x5x1 mm. O-like have become an iffy place to order lasers from, but it is probably safe to order gratings from them. I got mine and they are OK.

At least diffraction gratings cannot possibly be underspec :D

@ Isaac, nice pictures, but what about stuff other than green?
Also, Razer Naga! How does it work for you? Had thoughts about it before, if I need a new mouse I was thinking that one simply because I enjoy a million controls on a mouse, but THAT many million controls looks like it makes a bit too tall/big overall of a mouse shape. Your experiences?

Hey,

About the only color being green, that is actually all I own at the moment. However, today I built a very compact DIY 660nm running at ~200mA that I will post pics of after work tonight. And I have a 405nm on the way that should be delivered tomorrow around midday that I will post beamshots of as well. Other than that though, I just have my two 532's that you can see in my sig. I have yet to join the 445 club :/ just can't afford it.

As for the Razer Naga, it is THE BEST MOUSE IN THE WORLD! I used to play mmo's, and it is great for that, but even now that I don't play them, I still plan to keep using it indefinitely. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!!! I'll post some pics of how it looks when using it so u can get an idea for the fit of it in the hand. I'll put it in the off topic board and send you a link via pm.

Thanks,
Isaac

You need to keep the lasers separate from each other. The can still damage each other when rolling around. The box is a great opportunity to make a nice case.

And nice beamshots. :D
