Well, you can't just figure machine. With tooling and a decent lathe, you'll likely end up running between $3-$4k easy. You may have luck shopping around for something used, but that can also be risky for a first time buyer.

Plus if you aren't experienced, you may be better off starting with a smaller machine and making basic parts. With a bigger machine, if you make a mistake and crash the machine, it can be very expensive.

Definitely. We did a lot of our original heatsinks and focus knobs on the 7x10 before we extended the bed.

We are actually looking at selling our 7x14, but you are in Ohio, so not sure if the trip would be worth it for you if you were interested.

Maybe I'll just start by getting that one and eventually if I get the money get a bigger one. Thanks for the help!

Ya, we got ours from harbor freight. Think it was $400? Look for sales or use a 20% off coupon. ;)

Also, basic tooling will run you another couple hundred at least.

Best of luck!
