When I was doing my laser photography last night, I thought I would take a few pics to post here of 589's in action. A few of them also have a 473nm, and a few with 445, 650 and 520s . I think nwfreefly still has a few spots left in his CNI 589 GB and is close to closing it out. It may be your last chance to get a 80mw 589 at the GB price, which may never be as "cheap" as this again.

That's right! Only two spots left in the GB. The color of it looks so beautiful. Can't wait to get one. I've ordered a Jetlasers PL-E Pro 30mw 473nm too based on the good reviews I've read.

Thanks for posting more pics, they look so good! (Oh and, would you mind giving me a couple tips/tricks on photographing lasers in the future? My dad owns a good Nikon camera, but I don't know much about the settings to take good pictures.)

I agree Bruce, and again nice pics. Unfortunately some people have got it into their head that these 589s are crap and believe a wonky LPM graph over what the actual visual output looks like. To hell with it, I'm gonna go get my 589 right now and play with it!!

So far I've seen about three reviews about a bad DL 589nm. Of which one was back in 2011. I won't say they're good, but they're probably not that bad either.

There are bad reviews of almost every laser company on here if you look hard enough. There's also the possibility that one or two get damaged in the post. And, I agree DL could handle those situations better, but really a lot of it is being blown out of proportion.

Video coming tonight of DPSS yellow so you can actually see what one looks like and that it's not "like bad battery contact flickering unstable".

Yeah, you're very right about that. Though the thing with the DL 589nm is that they have claimed it to have a 50mw average multiple times. But yet is has been quite a bit lower multiple times too. It's just a bit of a gamble.

Glad there is a 589nm GB going on now.

It's also been quite a bit higher a LOT of the time, though. Some of these are pulling over 100mW. That's 200+ overspec. Count your blessings!

All participants in this group buy got way over spec DL 589 Spartans.

They got the good units. I've seen two reviews from after the group buy where people got underspeced lasers. It's not that many though, and there are probably people that did get up to spec, or over spec units after the GB. They most likely just didn't say anything about it.

I'm not risking the DL 589nm though. Going for a 80mw 589nm from CNI in this group buy.

I was the first one , before any of the GB's, to get a DL 589nw 50mw. This was April 2014. I tell this same story in the review I did back then. I bought it as a 30mw. When I got the laser, I knew it was way over 30mw just by seeing how bright it was, as I also have a DL Spartan 589nw 5mw for comparison. When I LPMed it it peaked at 70mw and ran averaged 50 mw. When I checked their website 589 page shortly after, the 30 mw option was gone and it was now a 50mw for eighty dollars less then I paid for mine. I sent Adam from DL an email about this and DL gave me a 80 dollar credit, which I used for a beam expander. I then purchased a second unit for jmillers GB and it also peaked in the 70's and averages around 50 mw. These two lasers are used intensely every weekend for almost a year now and still work perfectly and are very stable units. I have purchased 5 lasers and numerous diffraction gratings from DL over the past three years and would buy from them again if there was something I wanted. Whenever I did have a problem it was taken care of to my satisfaction.

Thanks for the info there Bruce, always good to get a review that balances out some of the other observations.

I did buy a couple lasers from them before, too. And have nothing to complain. Customer service was great, shipping time was outstanding and the quality of the lasers was pretty good too.

Thanks for sharing your experiences with them.

The spartan I got was from gismo, and he bought it outside of the group buys and is also overspec.
