I finally got my first 803 working, and I love it. It's the diode I was trying to put into an mxdl, I gave that up and have put it in a box where it works fine. 60mW @ 125ma... It lights matches, burns things, skin included. I've only played with PS3 diodes before. This laser is so much more awesome!! The beam is very mesmorising but it hurts after a short while, it's easy to forget the power that's coming out.

And last night I put together an MXDL with an open can sony diode I bought from Zom-B's GB. I think I put in a 300ma rckstr driver thinking it was 400ma, but the laser is putting out 210mW anyway, so I'm happy.

here's a Pic of the BR, Red MXDL and my 80mW Green from DX.

Thx dave. Yer I know it's not good readings jamilm :(, It's Aixiz clear acrylic lens.
I tested this diode at different currents and best it could do was 90mW at 167ma, I think it's not as powerfull as the other one's?

It probably wants more voltage. What are you powering it with?

9V battery atm in this box. And it's using a DDL driver, so -2.25V for the LM and the diode should be getting 6.75? Is that right, could it need even more than that .
When I was testing it I think it was about 10-11V source.

No. 6.75V should be more than enough. How quickly does the 9V drop voltage? Was the output different when you were testing it?

I don't know about the voltage drain or anything cos I just got the battery charged for this. And the diodes output has been consistent in it's irregularities no matter where it was. It seems to be 30mW @100ma, 60@125 and 90@167.

Could heat during the extraction cause the diode to become "weaker" or different.

Not like this (at least not in my experience). What are you using to measure the output?

The laserbee LPM you sold me :) I finally have a BR now that can give a reading on it :)

Hmmm . . . How's the battery in the meter?

Do you have other lasers to measure on the meter? Has their reported output changed?

I'm starting to grasp at straws here. This doesn't make sense to me.

The Meter has fresh batteries. And no reported output change, I checked with a few lasers but especially a red laser I have that runs off USB power and is always 70mW.
Yer It doesn't make sense to me either. I've actually ignored this as a problem the last few days thinking maybe this is just the diode's max potential.

Well, that is certainly possible, but it is outside the experienced output ranges. VERY interesting . . . . I have to go lecture this evening. Maybe my subconscious mind will think of something for me while I talk.

Lol, cool. Well thx for trying to help, :) though my headaches probably just passed onto you now.
I might put this up for sale soon anyway.
