Oh man, these are so cool Will !
What did you do in the first one, it looks surreal?
Looks like you vaporised something into thin air.

Your phone picks up the blue lasers nicely, mine makes them look violet.

The "LPF light painting" is very well done, bet you had to keep moving around huh?
Nice.

RB

Thanks RB! With that first image I took a 30 second exposure, at the start I had the laser on for maybe 2 seconds or so
and then I removed the laser from the frame, allowing the light that was once behind the laser to be visible to the camera :)
The blue laser looks fairly accurate to my eyes so I'm glad that it can (to some degree) provide true to life colours.

I love those blue shots. Your own laser aurora. :) +rep from me.

Glad you liked them Curtis

Here's one I just shot about half an hour ago. The red and green lasers are about 50mw each and the blue laser is about 3W,
so to compensate for the difference in brightness I positioned the red laser as close to the aperture as possible and left it on the
duration of the 30s exposure. The green laser I left on for approx. 5 seconds and the blue laser had just a quick 1 sec burst.

You can see that a moth flew through the beams whilst the lasers where on :D

Lovely image Will. :) Good use of exposure times.
I also love the star filled sky. Due to the lack of trail in the blue, that moth was very lucky not to witness the 3W. :D

We always want what we don't have :D

That's intriguing, especially as the lamp post isn't on. Solar eclipse???

OK, sticking with the thread subject, heres two I did a while ago on film. We took the car to a dark sky area and I combined the subject of lasers with car.

Hey Will! You live in such an amazing place for pictures. Long time exposure can do awesome things. I'm still in shock that the green laser is visible in broad daylight! Even with LT it's still impressive.

Sean, that's not broad daylight mate.
That's a 30 second long exposure at ISO 800, f/1.8, taken at night with the moon out.

:)

Will, love the tri beam RGB shot, great mix of timing making for a perfect exposure on each beam.
The moth path just adds a nice touch.

What I want to know is; why isn't everything upside down? Do you guys rotate the images after taking them just so that us Northern Hemisphere folk don't get confused? :D:p

Wait what? This is a moon shot? What the heck?!!!

That looks like a bright summer day! I obviously know nothing about photography!

The moon is great at illuminating things in a long exposure.

Hey Arcticdude, I looked at the camera you sent in the pm and I am considering this camera. Olympus Stylus XZ-2 12.0 MP Digital Camera Black 50332183902 | eBay
It has a bulb mode and long exposure with a nice lens but it's a few year old and 12.0 MP. I read through this review. Olympus XZ-2 Review: Express Review
From the looks of it, the camera can take okay astrophotos. Do you have any thoughts?

RB Astro, will this be able to take the night time photos that look like daylight with the exposure? I've spent a lot of time researching.
