Oh yes, I was by far not suggesting that the information was being transmitted FTL, but it sure was an interesting article. Neutrinos was a measurement error and haven't been proven to be FTL. I have heard of Cherenkov radiation but have no knowledge on it. Thanks for sharing Radim.

@Accutronitis: OMG, that is something Thor would be proud of.

This laser is a serious fire hazard. And it is a very nice sound effect demonstration for OP.

I think I'll go to see some industrial lasers in some of our companies in holding I work for. I guess there will be also nice cutting sound, but not sure how to record it as there are likely cooling, technical gases and other noises during operation. What I've heard some new lasers are being bought, so that would be nice opportunity for an inspection. Shame on me I did not do it already.

@Oliver: Yes, I'm sure with that. BTW when I was a kid I wanted to build a reactor, luckilly I could not find any radioactive material to be used.

Burning something underwater with any laser that can burn produces a sound too!

ED: I tried it on a piece of plastic in a glass.

I didn't see anything, What happened ? Was that the laser making the sound or was it the water ?

What I really like on this forum is that "small minded" people here might have a nice discussion initiated by kind of these troll-like questions.

I personally found some nice links and printed one article to read later. I think this is what counts. Why not to turn all troll attempts to this as defence against them?
