I'm not kidding when I say that you could submit those 10 or so photos alone, to a stock photography website, and probably bring in $20 a month of effort free money in perpetuity without having to do anything once submitted. Stuff like that sells.

Thanks rhd, I take your compliment sincerely. Your photography ideas and pictures that I've seen before have impressed me so I really appreciate it!

Interesting though, I've never considered using any pictures for website promotions, sales ect and I wouldn't know the first thing about trying to sell them. Maybe if the movie Tron were anything closer to real life then that could be another story This is just a new idea of mine I want to improve upon but I'd love to learn more about what you're talking about.

Hehehe too funny Eud! I was actually thinking a few times 'what would Eudaimonium say about this?' when looking through some of the beamshot/refraction pics because not too long ago we had talked about the different ways certain cameras pick up the beams. In some of these you can see both the gritty, particle-reflecting of the beam as well as the solid, glowing, 'barlike' beams. Your reply though hahaha, thanks man!

And you are right about the setup, it took hours!! Creating the set for these shots (circuitboard layout, laser placement, hitting the crystal from the right angle so they appear to be shooting, correct lighting, proper background, hanging dry ice/ice fog dispensers from the ceiling, ect, ect) to get the results I wanted was difficult! I had stuff falling down a lot too, usually from the slightest bump or nudge when moving the camera around almost destroyed the set several times

Nice, thanks for sharing the information and link! Yeah I mentioned before not knowing about the idea of someone else using anything like this for commercial or business purposes. I'll look into posting some of these on istock just to see if anything ever comes from it

Well thank you too for your kind words too. I did submit a photo in the last contest, that was most of what brought me to rebuild my miniature circuit cities for crystal laser warfare once again hehe. A few of those shots up there could give away my submission but I didn't make the top 10 so I dont think it matters

I appreciate everyones feedback once again! I look forward to building another set for more shooting soon. I plan on messing with gravity, translucency, room temperature and a few other things to take it all to another level

I am happy to share any full res pictures just let me know which ones you want and the best way to share them because I'm not sure. I dont think posting them here is the best option because they are around 7meg per pic, your screen would scroll 4 times over back and forth I know the forum generally doesn't like that

You can put all the pictures to one folder, archive it (if you have winRar..), and upload to somewhere like megaupload.com

Or use IE's way...

The best picture thread I have ever seen. +1 without question.

I would try this, but I'd be unable to reproduce anything even fractionally awesome so it would ruin the magic for me.

Hah, you flatter me,

If you're still wondering what I'd say except a few bad jokes...

If you want a bit more technical opinion, I've still got nothing but praises.

I really really love this one:
http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m69/danefex/19.jpg

It must have been a really short shutter time to get the particle to appear as a dot, rather then blurred line we usually get.

Pictures are so high-tech looking. Boards and everything chosen correctly.

Even took time to make the GIFs.

Angles and viewpoints made epically. Personally I'd love one or two pictures at low-angle to see the beam reflected from the circuit boards, or reflected OFF the circuit boards, to see what patterns and stuff can you get.

But hey, nitpicking It's what I do.

Loving the way you did it surgically precise, no diffraction gratings and beams left and right, just one or two beams, focused, aimed, perfect.

I bet that the one where laser is aimed at Uranium ball and which appears to be smoking, was luck of the draw for the smoke effect, huh? Betchya can't do it again!

All in all, very f***ing impressed, sent a link to this thread to a buddy of mine, reply was
"Holy sh*t. Sick MOFO".
In a good friendly way ofcourse

Keep up the good work man!

Hey folks, I just added a bunch of pictures at the bottom of my post that link to high res versions (2047x1356) of those pictures. There's some good desktop wallpaper right there so have at it! I will probably add some more over time but for now I hope you enjoy

Edit: Thanks again Eud for your kind words and detailed input! On the picture you mentioned also, YES - several shots from that specific angle show a pattern of what was going on with the laser & the crystal. That ONE shot of several caught just the right timing of the lasers changing between patterns to pick up such a unique, minimal amount of what light was hitting the stone and what was reflecting off it compared to the brightness from the other pics in that sequence. I have no other pics that came out like that, it was incredibly lucky timing
