My red spirograph diode died the other day for some reason, it was at 250mA, but it was working fine for 3-4 hours. I think that the driver overheated because it was so hot that I couldn't touch it, even though I used a heatsink for it. I tried to replace the lm317, but still dim.
But that's okey, because now I can use the large LD-heatsink to experiment with my ps3 blu-rays. Here's some beam pics of a cheap red combined with blu (I had to try this ), some homemade diffraction gratings from the ps3 sleads, and a little fluorescence.
In some of the shots is the blu running at 80mA, this diode is kinda crappy so I don't really care about it's health.
Sorry about the quality.
Too many pics...
I've done some more experiments with the ps3 diode. I'm running both the blu and the red LD at the same time (in the same can) and it works good. Except that I can't focus them both at the same time of course. I'll try to get some pics of that later.
