Needless to say I'm looking at options for new phones.

Ooh, I'm very proud of my new phone, I'd hate to derail the thread though.

Why don't we have "Show off your new phone" thread?

Anyway, it's Sony Xperia S:
XperiaS2.jpg

It has a screen resolution greater than my laptop, 25 GB user accessible memory, dual core processor and dedicated Adreno 220 Graphics unit supported by 1 gigabyte of RAM in a Snapdragon chipset.

From all options present to me when I was buying it two months ago or so, this was the single best choice. Still is. You can get it for like, $350.

Looks like a great phone, it costs 500$ here in Canada though. Can't get it with a contract since all the major cell providers in Canada are awful. Have to go with a smaller company to get decent service.
We should have a phone thread :p

The answer to your question is yes, you can combine two or three of the same diodes to get more power, however you will loose some power in the optics so if you combine 3x 300mW 532nm you'll likely end up with 750mW.

Check out the tutorial in my signature for details about how to combine them.

Thanks for the link. Pictures and diagrams help when it's something I'm new to. Can't wait for the beam shots. Glad I stumbled on this site; you guys are so helpful and have great patience. Who says they can't teach an old dog new tricks.
BTW, my phone is an LG w a 3.2 mega pixel camera. It's what I used to do my post.

WHo bought it? Arayan or Smeer :)

Neither of them, Arayan bought the dual diode laser. :p

Wow its finally done :) Been waiting for this build to be completed since at least December iirc. 6w of power in a handheld is awesome. I'm really curious also on what the final color looks like? Must have to use welding goggles when using the laser because of the combined blue + red wavelength and I don't know of an laser goggles that cover both of those wavelengths simultaneously. How easy is it to set wood on fire with an infinity focus?

<daguin>

Omg what did i miss ? hahah

Congratz on the build, If you have more i'm all ears.

Maybe later, but I want to build a low power RGB for myself now :p
I am planning on a triple diode 520nm when the multimode 1W diodes come out :D Than plan is to make it as bright as possible :)

Still awaiting beamshots  :)

I'll get some video with my kodak video camera but I think that's all I can do before I have to send it off. None of my other cameras can handle the intense light.
My friend with a D5000 is away till Friday so I can't borrow his camera like I usually do :p

I can describe the color well enough though, the hue is sort of like an A140 purple-blue. The blue overpowers the red greatly so there is hardly any difference to the normal 445nm color.

Im sure if he wanted to he could power each diode individually at test it that way. But I'm sure the buyer has a lot of money tied up on this and doesnt want any more delays.
