Here's my 60W CO[sub]2[/sub] laser. The beam bounced back and cracked the output coupler cooler. So now I have to run it at a duty cycle. No more than 1min on at a time (not that any application takes longer than a minute with this power anyway) The tube is 4' (yes, four feet) long:




The power supply with the radiator and pump:



Control box I built out of a rat shack project box. It includes a key switch (don't want those pesky siblings to mess with this one.) Switches for radiator fan, water pump, 9V out for aiming diodes (currently not installed), Laser momentary on or constant on, and a potentiometer that varies the power from 0-60W. Complete with indicator lights ;) :



And two videos of it cutting a match and lighting electrical tape. Or was that the other way ar-?... whatever.

It's actually an Ebaser (The tube and power supply anyway). And like all Ebaysers, this one emits quite a bit of IR. :D

I'm thinking here that a CO2 laser emits a lot of deep IR.  I may be wrong.

Cy -- How much water did you have flowing ?? I've been told 3 L/m at 40 deg C. I've had a 15 watt internally crack but not by reflection.

I haven't measured the water flow, but I'm using a recirculating pump originally meant for hot water distribution throughout a home (should be plenty). If I remember correctly, the spec sheet for mine suggested 3gal/min (12L/min) at no more than 130 degrees F.

I've forgotten to turn on the pump a few times and I should probably install a failsafe for that sort of thing. But thus far she's been pretty forgiving.

That's a good question. I just peeled off the layers - it went through 52 of them and left a mark on layer 53 :)

I don't need one, But I really want one!

Is there a hole in the wall on the other side of the laser? or is the focal point short enough where you can us it indoors.
My luck my cat would jump in front of it, getting cut in half or catch on fire! Theres nothing like the smell of burning pussy...Cat.

Great Vid's, made my nipples hard!

I need to mount one of those on my Hog! Keep those pesky tailgater's off my a$$, by burning a hole in their radiator.
