Are the mirrors sealed to the glass tube? If so, is it mirror metal glass fused?

Yes and Yes. I haven't tested anything (I'm not sure my generic multimeter would survive), but the triggering voltage is supposedly 24kV and operating voltage 16kV at 20mA (only 320W). So I calculate that at 18.75% efficiency. Not bad.

The power supply is capable of outputting up to 30kV at 30mA, so it might even run a 100W tube.

CO2 lasers are amazing but don't get one unless you are comfortable with 20,000+ volts and never pass you hand in front to "see if it's on"
They are a different beast.

AWESOME

I just found out that my physics teacher's uncle was the guy who invented the laser that burns off follicle hairs (can't remember the name but he is Welsh). His latest project is a laser that can burn through 6" of concrete [smiley=evil.gif]

holy shite, 60W, that would set a new wave of 'fun', eh. shiniing lasers at astronuats. that isnt funny.

anyway, do you know that the laser shone at the moon was a 4W. maybe you should research the topic. Iv heard of guys with there powerful lasers on their telescopes. They will find the mirror which was placed on the moon by an Apolo team. This mirror is only 1m in diametre and even the Hubble telescope can't see that detail on the moon. So you just need to know where it is, anyway then shine the laser and 4 secconds later. that beam will be shining back into that laser module.

But even the guy who designed the mirror says that the speed of moon, light, earths rotation will all play apart in this experiemtn not working.

IUt does sound awfully irresponible/try to do though...
