Since I don't have an LPM yet nor do I have other equipment needed for a decent review, I thought I'd just post a couple of photos and some info about the Dragon Lasers 589nm 50mW laser that got delivered today.

The box it got delivered in:

The laser in it's anti static wrapping:

Updated with some outside beamshots!

Unlike a couple others, I received a good unit. I can't say the exact output because of lack of a LPM, but I can easily say that it's overspec. It's brighter than my custom built 520nm laser with a DTR module in it that does 70mW.

The laser mode-hops between TEM00 and TEM01, but this is only for the first few seconds. After that it has a solid TEM00.

From placing my order to delivery it took about 6 days, that's not bad considering it came all the way from China.

I will try to add some outdoors beamshots soon, and maybe a video if I can get the camera to listen to me. Thanks for looking

Congratulations gozert, glad you received a good one!
Those are some very nice, sharp beam shots; got to love all that golden yellow goodness! :D

Nice little guy you have there! You are now one of the few on LPF who can say they own both 593.5 & 589. Maybe take a comparison beam shot? Have fun :)

Thanks for the kind words!
I actually did take a comparison beamshot, but just now I noticed that I forgot to post is :D

Photo coming in a minute!

@Starlight Thanks :beer:

Edit: Added to first post, it's the last photo. Couldn't get a very good shot of it because the 589nm is so much brighter. I'll give it another try tomorrow.

Updated with a couple outside beamshots. Enjoy!

Great shots there; mine also arrived today and seems to be outputting similarly to yours :) Will try and get some half decent pics tomorrow.

Nice been meaning to post pics of mine ( best 21st birthday gift) I finally got done with classes so I'm gonna post some pictures soon. Mine makes my skin feel warm even when i turn it on right away. I don't have a lpm can you check and see if it does for you?
Mine is really bright but it does have some slight mode hoping/dimming but it's solid.

It's just as bad as the 532nm's hurt your eyes. It's really bright and so different than every other wavelength I've seen.

Thanks for all the comments and +reps people!

Hey Gozert , Congrats on your 589! The sequence of beam shots in the first part are very nice shots, good luck with it!
