No, I was not wearing goggles.

BUT I had my face covered, and I was useing a video camera to see through. The camera I made these movies with has an IR filter on it, this tells you how powerfull this laser really is!! it is a scary laser, and I am getting goggles as soon as I get paid, but untill then, I think the camera is safe to look through, actually, I think this camera is probably safer than the goggles will be since it covers my entire face... I am EXTREMELY CAREFULL to make sure of the target, and all possible things that it may reflect from, also, what u dont see is the camera I am looking through, wich isnt the one Im useing to make these movies. If the laser is so powerfull it can burn through the camera with a reflected scattered beam, then what good would the goggles be? (wich it isnt, but I wish it was!)

This is a very impressive laser! Where did you get the diode stack and power supply for it?

Perhaps it would be possible to mix in some green using a dichro or similar setup so you can actually see where you are pointing it at - i reckon the 915 nm spot is invisible to the eye even at this power level?

I got the diode off of ebay, and I got the power supply from bgmicro, I got a heck of a deal on the power supply, it was 27.00!! I have always used a video camera to see my lasers, I have never tried to see them with my eye...  and I would not want to with out very good goggles. Anyway, since I use a camera, I can see where im hitting just fine. And, by the way, im only running the diode at 20 amps, its 17 watt current is 27 amps. as soon as I get a better fan on the power supply, I can turn up the power.

you can probably turn it up right now. You don't seem to run it long enough for the PS to overheat.

How much was the actual diode, and is the vendor still in business?
