Really cool invention, maybe some day lower power versions of these laser rust removers will become affordable. Couldn't imagine 1kW in my hand though, that's insane!

I'm so put off. I spent so much time restoring that '69 Chevy pickup in high school, and this dude aims his flashlight at the thing and doesn't even have to remove the chemicals left behind! :wtf:

Joys of diode stacks .


It's a big Q-Switched DPSS, not a diode stack ... although I guess they'd use a diode stack to pump the Nd:YAG (That must be a big chunk of YAG...). They state 800kW peak power for their 1kW model.

There's an entire subreddit on Reddit dedicated to these videos, they hit the front page fairly frequently.

They make a 20W backpack version - wonder if a Laserscope in 1064nm mode (Upwards of 80W average power IIRC) would do the same job. Those are "affordable" by many standards.
