I'm impressed with my china projector, but....

FFS get a REAL projector. I've already ordered the aluminium "slab" i will use as my baseplate, and picked out my lasers and galvo. Ok its not going to be a turnkey device, but I reckon I'm going to have a lot more fun swearing at people on the wall with the laser, than watching the self built patterns ;)

I have to give Gray credit for being upfront when I asked about these in behalf of DTR. He was honest about some mode shifting and from what he wrote me I expected it to be worse than it appears that Regina is experiencing. JETL just got some 12X and A140 445 diodes so I am looking fwd to the new PL-Cs they will be offering using these.

She seems like a great addition here, for sure.. plus that "600mW" laser is pretty badass at over 1W of peak output. You're not going to see that kind of output in a portable without mode-hopping.. at least not with today's tech.

@vk2fro: Sound advice if you've got the budget for it. The only Chinese projector I have was immediately torn apart and rebuilt.. Borgqueen's problem is a tiny budget, so the options are limited.

I wish I knew if Borgqueen is male or female..

How hard would it be to mod a $100 aixiz projector?

I have just shot an hours worth of video of various chinese and german made laser shows and will post them up when I get back to sydney.

This will give you an idea of what to expect from a cheap projector

and make sure you get one from a reputable seller - the red diode in mine died so the seller is taking it back and giving me a new one!

here you go - you can get one from dj.lover on ebay. :p

He has excellent customer service and is most helpful in my case, replacing the purple diode, and now the whole projector since the red has failed in it.

I am hoping that this unit was just a lemon and the next one doesnt play up.

Its a Shinp 460RGP

But now hes sending me a BETTER one, for all my troubles - the new one has SD card facilities, and has ILDA in and out. Much more suitable (and its a german make, not chinese!)

yes I am getting the Poseidon.

When I recieve it, I'll take a video of it running. The animations I will do towards the new year. I dont have a DMX controller (intend to use it stand alone or with a dac)

Just a quick update - Wu has recieved the defective projector.

I hope to recieve the new better model before the weekend. He sends them DHL so I should have it pretty quick.

We'll shoot video of it running. I Got a new battery for my camcorder :)

edit: haha he has included a green laser pointer as a "sorry it all went sour". Lets hope customs does not sieze the pointer - it'd be handy to have around to align my home made RGB build.

I will shoot video later on. I need to disable my smoke alarm first - using the fog machine with it armed is asking for trouble :)
