Wanna make my own cheap show, dont have any equipment

unless i have a delay, that is not going to the beat. that looks like a generic pre programmed deal. the local restaurant here has one of those with a similar pattern. If you see a real sound activated RGB borg, i don't think you will like it. it's not very attractive. I looks like it is having a heart attack.

haha well usally the heart attack is called strobe mode at the cheapo projectors.
sound mode is really changing it patterns on the beat of the music.

I have 2 of these chinese projectors now, a red and purple one and my RGB. It'll be iphone quality, but tonight I will put them both into sound mode, put on some tunes and show you what the "preprogrammed" stuff looks like. The red and purple one is going to a friend (who wanted those colours).

Impressive at first, but I'm looking forward to playing with a dac.

I've already picked out the 640nm head to replace the dark 660 on my RGB. Crank up the 445, and stuff in a bigger green and it'll look quite good.

While you might have been beating a dead horse in your thread there, guys like Buffo and mixedgas (or LSRFAQ as he's called here on LPF) wouldn't know how to welcome new people to the hobby if they had to to survive.. To them, douchebaggery is an art form.. they get off on making themselves feel "superior" by belittling others. This fact, coupled with the fact that they really do not want any new faces in "their" hobby/profession, makes for the kind of treatment you received. Discouraging newcomers is an excellent way to keep their old boy's club exclusive.. I've seen it happen many, many times. If you question their answers or if you continue to ask questions after they have given their supreme word on the subject, you get labeled an idiot (among other unpleasant slurs). Too bad you had to get a taste. To me, the bottom line is that you started the thread with your own (reasonable IMO) questions and you maintained a level head even in the face of direct ridicule. Kudos to you for that!

Oh well.. there are plenty of people here who do have an interest in welcoming new people to the hobby, and who will continue to answer whatever questions you might have to the best of our ability. I have little doubt that the more troublesome PL members will continue to be more than willing to show the hobbyist community at large just what they think of them.

Elektrofreak i dont care. I have given them a fair chance as forum and you are right about them. Im sure not everyone there acts that way there, because among all posts i have been given some good advice about a chinese projector, that actually had good buys and talk on that forum. If they want to piss on me thats their choice. If they lock the topic and indeed - feel almighty, let them be and let them be happy in their little virtual world and life.
That latest post i linked above is about a a meeting. Im sad about that laser pointers are illigal here in the netherlands, and that guy i quoted says its sad that im an arse from lpf, basicly.
I can laugh at them. If they cant win from my discussion they just ban, delete, or kick, lol.

Maby about the dutch law about lasers....but else no...

you know it nice to know by my local laws and state laws if i am over 18 i can use a laser in public as long as its not pointed at a vehicle or or animal or person but every other target is fair game.
these are my restrictions.
M-272 Possession/Use of laser pointing device
(a) It shall be unlawful for any person to focus, point or shine a laser beam directly or indirectly on another person or animal in such a manner as to harass, annoy, or injure said person or animal.
(b) It shall be unlawful for any person under the age of eighteen years to possess a laser pointing device. A person shall not be in violation of this section if his possession of a laser emitting device is necessary for his employment, trade or occupation and it is necessary for the pointer to be carried on his person.

some of us dont mind PL, its not a good idea to go there just to get banned.
That does not make anything better.
it make things worse, if its not a place for you then dont go there.
If you want to help change their views of lpf the dont act like a kid. walk away and forget it.
Going back and trolling them does not make anything better.

^I disagree, not with your logic.. that much is sound. I disagree with the idea that we should just walk away and allow our entire community to be belittled by a small group of worthless individuals. I think that we should return like with like myself, with as much tact as possible. Personally I think that borgqueenx has remained stoic throughout his unfortunate experience. I've seen nothing that would justify the kinds of responses that were received other than the fact that borg is from LPF.

In theory you are right.. however certain PL members have overstepped their bounds more than once by coming here to use our resource and then talking shit on our whole community behind our backs. If I catch someone doing that to me in real life, then I take the battle home to them. The same applies here.

The whole reason I joined PL in the first place was because of how angry it made me to watch these people just dog on the rest of the laser community over and over (yes it's been going on for that long). I thought that perhaps I could help offset that with opposing viewpoints. It worked for a little while, but then people got personal. That's when some PL members demonstrated to me they are no more capable of acting grown up than many of us are.

We (LPF) are a FAR greater force in this hobby than Pl ever will be for a number of reasons, not the least of which are the fact that in general we have far more tolerant and helpful members, and we are NOT APPLICATION SPECIFIC. LPF is about LASERS... ALL LASERS.. PL is about laser projectors.. laser projectors are cool, but I think that our broadness of scope contributes greatly to our strength.

Myself, I have absolutely no intention of posting on PL ever again. However I WILL ALWAYS point out (with links) every little misstep by specific members there so that the rest of the community can see just what trash their actions make them out to be. That's my retaliation for EACH and EVERY person I saw get run out of there. And it's ALWAYS the same group of people running them off: mixedgas, buffo, dlsi_jon, and a few of their cohorts. The rest of the people there are great (for the most part) so I see no reason why these few douchebags should be allowed to ruin PL for whoever they see fit.

So, where I'm going with this is that it is not good to go there and lose it to get banned.. but it is good to sit down and think of as many tactful methods as possible to get OUR point across.. hell, these very same PL members that are causing trouble have used our forum as a resource on MANY occasions (not that they would admit it) because there is a TON of knowledge here.. particularly knowledge of diodes, where to harvest them, drive them and under what conditions they are happiest.

So it's true, both forums have their place.. but we're WAYY better IMNSHO.

chip i do know, i read the unedited/removed posts.
You may or may not know but i read alot. i constantly track both forums.
Any time a new thread ever hits both forums you can bet i have given it a once over.
It is up to you to adapt to their environment not them to adapt to you.
Those same rules apply here to lpf but there is less adapting needed.

I think that something needs to be clarified here. It's NOT PL that is the problem. PL is awesome, and would be even more so sans a lot of open hostility towards the rest of the laser community. The problem is specific members there (several of whom are also members here). No matter what the environment, certain types of behavior towards and disrespect for whole groups of people without discerning between a quality individual and a crappy one is just not right. That's our point... or at least it's my point.

i do not, nor does anybody else, have to adapt to situation/mold they have no intentions of being an active part of. I had troubles here in the beginning but i saw that this was a place i wanted to stay. so guess what, i adapted. So you are preaching to the choir. I'm not hurt they don't accept me. i went in with my own rules and got banned. no biggie. but the way borg was treated is the exact reason that members of PL are despised.

ps, no wonder pl isn't very welcoming, the don't have an easily accesible welcome section, if the even have one at all.
