shit, never heard of Lanling reselling like that before. I know at least some of his units are hand built. Anyway its still one helluva beast. I would seriously get that instead of a car.

If you notice in this post http://www.laserpointerforums.com/forums/YaBB.pl?num=1186331158/0#0

in his picture the logo plate looks glued on and you can tell the other logo was taken off with some solvent or something.
You can see from this picture
http://szshinp.com/en/products.asp?nsid=4&pid=13
what the logo that was originally on it looked like.
I'm not trying to dump on his products but I seriously doubt he makes them by hand.
More like he buys them from the maker then puts his name badge on them.

Agreed, many many resellers exist, but very few OEMs. As long as the markup isn't too high, its okay, but quite often you find people reselling total junk, with very high markups, claiming the be the OEM.

If you want an ultimate scanner, check out some of those German multi-watt RGBs. 10W+ all DPSS whitelight systems and the such. Not gunna pick one of those up with your spare change!

Well I have to disagree with you. While Lanling may not be the original manufacturer of the laser shows, (I guess these are generic Kits). I know for a fact that he assembles and tests them himself. The glue used to affix his logo was carelessly smudged on the unit I received. The same glue is present inside the unit to effictively seal and make tamper proof all the lasers and optics, once they have been alligned and set.

If you need proof of this, then read on... I emailed him about the poor quality of the gluing on the front cover and a few scratches on the mirror mounting frame. 5 days later I received another parcel from him containing a brand new front cover and brand new scanner mounting frame. There is absolutely no sign of any solvent used to remove any previous logo.

This in my opinion is tangeble proof that he does indeed assemble and test the units himself, as both standalone lab units I also purchased of him, are identical to the laser units in design and style as the units in the scanner.

I hope this clears up your little inaccuracy ;)

Jase.

Hey Jase, I wasn't trying to start any sh** just making comments on my observations.
The pic you just posted does look like the emblem was glued on better and no smudge marks on the front cover.
I have no idea how many people or factories in China make these things!
:-/
One thing for sure is you have damn good customer service from your guy!
:)
Most places would tell you to send them the whole thing back so they could put on the front panel and you'd get royally screwed on the shipping back costs!

Glad it worked out for you!

Grn I know were not trying to post s**t, you were just making a valid conclusion from other evidence you have discovered, so no worries there. ;)

It does however appear that more than one company has access to the various panels, lasers and enclosures that make up these display systems.

I do however find it surprising that he is charging so much for that 1 watt RGB , but I guess that is up to him.

As fas as customer support goes, he is truly up there with the best of them. I believe he sent Things a replacement cooling fan for his noisy one too, but again that could be down to the extra exposure he is getting from the forums.

I only have praise for his products and support and he has been a total pleasure to deal with. While the price for that RGB is way above what it should be, the lower level Green, Red RG and RGY scanners are great value for money, oh and don't forget the forum discount that we get.

Hey not to get too far off in this thread but I was wondering Tallaxo/Jase, what do you and things use for your fog/smoke effects for use with the laser scanner?
I've been looking around at so many different types with different wattages. I just want to smoke up the living room or a double garage/party room.
What would you guys recommend? Seems like the 400 watt/2000 cubic feet per minute output models are most popular.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!
:)

Grn- I have a small 400w fogger , and with a 30 second burst, I found it will fog up a medium / Large size room or a garage for well over 30-40 mins, before you need a refresh. I think I got mine on Ebay for about £20 ($40). I recently took the pump in mine apart , cleaned it all out and removed a small plastic restrictor disk found in the inside

Now it pumps about twice the amount of fog it did when i first bought it. ;D ;D. A nice little mod to make if you are feeling brave (the pump is tiny and seperates into about 20 different parts).

ya i had to replace the pump in my fog machine all together, it just stopped working, so i ripped it apart, and there was no obvious clog, so i bought a new pump, and replaced it, and now it works perfectly! hmmm my fog machine is about 1kw(1000W), so it can do a concert hall in about 2 minutes of fogging, and my room in less than 10 seconds ;D ;D ;D i have to spread the fog around though, because there isn't much airflow

Cool!
I got impatient and went to the mall last night and Spencer's had a 700W model with a wired timer/remote (holds 0.8 Ltr. of fog juice) for $39 bucks! The wired timer sets the fog spray time from 5-30 second bursts and the interval between fog from 5 sec- 2min50 sec. pretty cool!
I fogged up my living room so fast last night I thought my smoke alarm was going to go off!
When I get everything lined out I'll have to take some pics.
I looked around on eBay and found some but I didn't want to wait for shipping time.

Thanks for the input guys. Maybe I'll have to take mine apart and see if I can find that little plastic restrictor!

I found a place online that sells scented additive that you put in your machine to make the smog smell good.
http://www.halloweeneffects.us/Fog_Scents_p/f-scents.htm
Here is the timer that came with my unit.
http://www.halloweeneffects.us/Fog_Machine_Timer_Remote_p/ef-trm.htm

Guess I got a good deal for $39 for the fog machine w/timer! The place above wants $24.95 just for the timer!

;D
