I felt like making a light show after only having pointers I wanted something different for a change :D

I didn't take pics of every step but some important ones,

I chose a nice decent sized box, enough room to heavily heatsink everything, the driver is heatsinked to a HUGE peice of aluminum I got of a fan at a local electronics store for 1$ :) I used a fan with a mirror glued on & a 650nm laser diode to make a mini light show, I plan on adding one more colour I'm not sure yet, I also ordered a nice glass direction grating to add a nice effect once all the colours have been added.

Here's some pictures:

The whole box

The diode I used, ( its a sample from a supplier & it seems to be an LCC diode, but new :D ) I am running it at 240mA

Now the effect it gives :) it's really cool actually

:thanks: for looking

What's great about simple light show projects like that at parties or places like that, it'll look extremely cool, no matter how simple it may seem.

Try bouncing that off another motor + mirror too, for more intricate patterns.

Yeah its pretty cool :) I will add a green + violet later once I get the parts as well as a kaleidoscope glass lens :D it should make it nicer, I was thinking maybe a potentiometer to control fan speed making the rotations faster or slower but I wanted a simple one, maybe another time I'll try other methods as there's definelty better / cooler ones :)

This is great!

Actually I'm surprised that no one on here is selling simple "lasershow" equipment. Certainly there is a market for it, with people who are not quite ready to make the move the PJ's but do want something more than a pointer.

+1.

Thanks :)

Your right, I've never seen these available here before, or any other simple show, I tried adding a green this morning with a module I just got in the mail, unfortunantly, it died after about 5 minutes  I think the pot may have shifted during travel as it was much too bright for 50mw :p I thought it was just overspec so I continued to install it, put the dicro aligned properly with the green & red & then the green never came so now I'll be adding violet/blue soon :D

I want to add violet now :) Just waiting on the diode :p I don't have room for another spiro though :(

I took a Beamshot just now,

It's tough to get a good one though, it's too diffused.

What diode did you snap the pin off of ?

Some can be made to work again :D

an osram PL450 the 3.8mm ones & it was the + pin :cryyy: if it was the case pin it wouldve been no problem, even the negative since its case negative i couldve probably still made it work :(
